Shows you Where on Earth it's night and day in gradients. ------------------------------------------------ For anyone wondering, the sun image on the map shows where on Earth the sun is at its zenith (Subsolar Point) and the darker shades on the map simulate the light at that location, the darker the shade, the less light there is. ------------------------------------------------ Calculations Subsolar Latitude: 23.45 x cos ( 360 x ( D.O.Y + 281 ) / 365 ) Subsolar Longitude: ( ( UTC Time + EoT ) x -15 ) + 181.69 Where: EoT = Equation Of Time ( In Hours ) D.O.Y = UTC Day of the year 23.45 = Earth's Tilt **These are estimates and can be off by a few degrees** -------------------------------------------------- This is a super easy project to use, just type in your coordinates ( You don't need to but it does tell you how much light you are getting from the sun ) and then wait for it to load. You might have to wait a second or two as the project will go through immense calculations but after the wait, you will see where the sun is and where it is Night / Day. You will also see a red dot of where the coordinates you entered earlier are located. Last thing, you will see a variable named, "Light Level At Your Location" This just tells you have much sun you are getting.
Formulas from ChatGPT Code by Me Implementation by Me Handmade Map by Me ------------------------------------------------ I have no guarantees that the formulas are accurate, I have put them through light testing. This should absolutely not be used for Astronomical purposes ---------------------------------------------------------------- Update Log: 13 Aug 2023 - Shared 13 Aug 2023 - Added color to map 13 Aug 2023 - Tried (and failed) to fix sublunar point 14 Aug 2023 - Tried to fix sublunar point 14 Aug 2023 - Tested new sublunar algorithm 14 Aug 2023 - Realised the algorithm was even worse 15 Aug 2023 - Added inaccessible sunrise and sunset 27 Aug 2023 - Fixed Light Map
