Grian paced around the rift cave, where the remaining hermits had taken refuge. They were still stunned, reliving the past hour and the pain that came with it. Everyone was in shock. This wasn’t just a mock-war like they often had, this was real. Alternate Grian and Mumbo stood awkwardly off to the side. The Grumbots and the Button ran around, providing first-aid and comfort to anyone who needed it. Everyone was a little bit broken. Grian felt responsible for all the chaos. If he hadn’t been messing around with the fabric of space time, none of this would have happened. He had to find a way to make things right. But how? Alternate Scar was more powerful than anything Grian had seen, except maybe the Watchers. The Watchers… “No.” Grian muttered, banishing the thought from his head. The Watchers’ power only brought pain and suffering. It couldn’t be controlled. If Grian fought with his full strength, Hermitcraft would be destroyed. He had to get creative. He drew his attention to the Rift. Somehow, the Hermits of the “Chaoscraft Dimension” (Mumbo had supplied the nickname) had managed to navigate space and time to get here, using only an AI. Clearly, they had a far better understanding of the Rift than Grian did. As far as he knew, the Rift was made of some kind of powerful cosmic energy, most likely that of the Watchers, given it was a bright purple and seemed to be stronger when Grian was around. The bright purple made Grian uneasy, and he wasn’t sure why. Of course the Rift was always a little weird and creepy, but he felt different now. Where had he seen this purple before. That’s when he realized. “The zombies…” When Alternate Scar turned a hermit into a zombie.. their eyes glowed the exact same purple as the Rift. ~~ “How wonderful! He’s finally getting something done.” A mysterious figure muttered, looking down into Project 9. “Oooh, zombies. That’s clever.” Her comrade sighed. “This plan of yours better work, we’re running out of options.” “Oh of course it will. Just be patient. I contacted our grumpy little friend. He’s on board with the plan. He just needs to talk to our new recruit and then the fun begins.” “Are you sure this is safe? So many Watchers in one server...” “Oh it’s only three. They’ll be fine.” The second figure shook their head. “Fine, but when this develops into a grand multiversal war I’m not helping you fix it.” ~~ Grian explained his theory to Xisuma and Mumbo, who were the only ones who knew about Grian’s secret. Technically, Scar knew as well, but… well… he wasn’t exactly available. “You think Alternate Scar is a Watcher?” Mumbo whispered. “I’m almost positive. I should have recognized it sooner. The purple, the immense strength both physically and psychologically, it all adds up.” “This could just be a very powerful vexling.” Xisuma pointed out. Grian shook his head. “Trust me when I say I know what a Watcher looks like.” “Hey, uh, Grian?” Doc called over to him. “Is the portal thing supposed to be doing that?” Grian squinted at the Rift. He didn’t see anything wrong at first, but then he noticed a mass of vaguely human bodies, making their way through the swirling depths. “Everyone grab a weapon, we’re about to have some visitors.”
