He thought of Moana, trying to place the name as he walked out of Wisteria. Then he remembered. The sister to Ryder. The one who was old and mature enough to be a danger for those vying for the throne. The one who disappeared. And was never heard from again. Ebony barked, trying to get his attention, but it took a few minutes until he looked down. The dog was looking from him to an approaching silhouette. Hunter quickly took in his surroundings. He was already well out of Wisteria. And, guessing from the lush but dangerous rainforest around him, he was well into Venom territory. Kenric’s land. Which wouldn’t have been bad for the normal person, since the Venom Prince was Ryder’s ally and friend, except that Hunter hated to talk to him. Especially after practically murdering a Venom. And now he would have to. Especially since he could already see Kenric’s soldiers marching towards him. Dismounting, he waited for them to come forward, and his horse sank into the ground at his command. No use for Onyx here. And in the worst case scenario he didn’t want Onyx captured. The dog advanced, but he held him back. “Wait.” “Shade Prince?” one of them nodded to him. He acknowledged with his head. “You’re wanted.” “By whom?” He narrowed his eyes. “The Venom Prince,” the guard responded, nodding forward. Hunter did not move. “No,” he simply declared, summoning his shadows. The guard drew her dagger. Hunter did not wait, throwing his shadows at her and incapacitating the other straight in the shoulder with an arrow More guards emerged running, bringing with them the poisons they were so famous for. But as Hunter took on every attack made at him, Ebony took on every snake that threatened and slashed many legs in the process. Shadows protected both of them from poison. But it got too much for both of them. They held out for many more minutes before he felt acid fall in his eye and, shrieking, he fell. With a blow to the head, and he blacked out, the last thing he heard was a yelp.
I meant to freak everyone out with this chapter :)
