- PLEASE READ THE WHOLE DESCRIPTION AND COMMENT ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE <3 - - RESHARED ON THIS ACCOUNT SO MORE CAN SEE IT. REMIX THIS PROJECT OR THE OG ON @XENIIKO'S ACCOUNT - (deadline is August 23rd 11:59 PM UCT) FAQ (terms are compared to SWC terms for simplicity): What is Pixiedust? - Pixiedust is an online writing camp running in the months of April and October. It's similar to other scratch camps but not inspired by them. It follow 6 characters including Pixie. What is a 'Captain Assessments'? - Captain Assessments is Pixiedust's leader applications for the upcoming session. What if I don't want to be a Captain (leader)? - We will have Crew Recruitment (camper signups) opening on September 1st, 12:00 AM EST. What are you looking for in a Captain (leader)? - We're looking for someone who has at least an hour a day free they can spend online, someone who is good at problem solving (as this is the first session of Pixiedust, we expect to have some minor issues), and someone who is friendly and willing to engage with others. What is the theme for this session? - Pirate Ship is the theme for the October session of Pixiedust. How is this different than SWC? - Pixiedust was partially created with the goal of being less restricting than SWC (but is not based of off SWC). Here are all the changes between us and SWC. • Word limit increased from 100k to 150k. • As opposed to the 10k limit word reserve on SWC, we will have weekly word reserve adding—meaning that at the end of every week, if you have been saving up a word reserve, you must add it then. You can still add words whenever you want—but if you like to save up your words, this is when you’ll add them. • There will always be <10 locations (cabins) per session. • We run twice a year, as opposed to the usual three times a year in SWC. • We have no such thing as honoraries (however, you can invite up to three people of your choosing that are not part of Pixiedust to be in the description of your cabin--you must state that they are not official members, and they cannot get points for your location. These people can help with planning. More on this if you're a leader). • We have animated trailers for every leader application project, camper signup project, and session. • Each location will have two leaders, chosen by the hosts (we ask that you keep your application up during Crew Recruitment. If we get significantly more people than we expected, more leaders will be appointed accordingly.). • As opposed to the 1 word = 1 point of SWC, for this first session, we will have 1 word = 10 points (this is because it is our first session and we do not expect many participants.) These will be added at the end of each week when word reserves addings conclude. • We have some additional leaderboard positions aside from just locations. What are locations? - Locations are similar to cabins with some small differences. One being that locations are NOT themed after different writing genres--they are instead based off of the theme for the session. • Siren Cove • The Abandoned Ship • The Port • Storm Island • The Dismal Isles • (to be named) Island • Heaven City Don’t like any of the names? They’re changeable (should you be chosen), as well as their corresponding symbols. Any suggestions for the unnamed island will be considered (theme is sky/sun for this location). More about Locations: (DO NOT POST IN THIS FORUM) Do we have Cabin Wars? - Something similar. Do we have Weeklies/Dailies? - We have something similar, with daily challenges and harder weekly challenges, as well a monthly challenge. Daily challenges–as long as you finished the work BEFORE the end of the day–can be claimed the next day. The same applies to weekly challenges, but NOT the monthly challenge, which must be submitted with proof by end of the session. How long do I have to be online? - If you are a leader, we expect at least 1 hour every day of activity (this does NOT mean you have to be online for a whole hour every day. Just that you are available for the period of at least an hour to answer questions/add points/anything else required. This could be checking your location/messages every 20 or so minutes for new questions/other). If you are NOT a leader, it is entirely up to you how much time you spend on Pixiedust everyday–however, depending on your signup form, your location and leaders may have expectations from their ‘campers’. When can I expect results to come out after Captain Assessments conclude? - This depends entirely on the number of participants. If its 10-20 or under, they should come out within a few hours of closing. If its more than 20, it could take until the following day. Notes: - If you are chosen as a leader, we will send you the link to the information. - All applications will be hearted by me once I've seen them
