Near where you arrive in the arena, a gleaming copper cornucopia stands tall amidst a barren wasteland, radiating heat from the sun above. But beyond that…there is something else. Something much larger. A mountain famed throughout all of Panem- Mt. Capitosus. It towers over the land, casting a vast and oppressive shadow across the forest. Its peak is mysterious, shrouded by a dense fog no matter the weather in the rest of the arena. Near the top of the mountain the ground is slick and frosty, the air becomes cold, and thick snow drifts gather in the crevices. No trees can grow here, and few animals would dare make their home on its slopes. Further down the mountain thick swathes of pine woodland drape across the smaller hills and valleys, complete with several small rivers and waterfalls trickling down from the summer snow melt at the summit. A long, slender lake sits like a crescent moon at the edge of the forest, though strangely the streams do not drain into it. Does it gain its water from another source? Beyond the Crescent Lake, the terrain is hardly recognisable. The black, coarse rock seems to cover vast regions without so much as a crack. Long, winding tunnels weave through the stone like a metro system, big enough to be entered with ease yet too irregular to be built by the paws of civilisation. To the East, the ground shifts to gravel and the land becomes barren, only suitable for the most formidable of plants. The enormous boulders that litter the landscape are spread throughout all of the arena, each without so much as a hint of how on earth it got there, almost as if it had flown. Scattered throughout the arena, wolverine mutts watch from the shadows with keen eyes, waiting for their moment to strike. But another danger lurks, perhaps closer than one may think.
