The 7D09, designed as an ASW (Anti-submarine Warfare) frigate, actually lacks enough anti-submarine power to meet requirements of the Armaland navy, which already had the 7D08 dentist (arleigh burke flight III). Therefore, the 7D06 is designed to carry only rocket launched torpedoes in its vertical launch system, in combination with some anti-air missiles for self-defense. Such missiles can reach ranges up to 22km with speeds at mach 1. After the booster stage, a torpedo ejects and continues to home to the target. By using this missile, the 7D06 is capable to be a very capable ASW frigate.
