Please read all of this: This project has a rather long history: Back in 2020, I decided to create my first account: Bananaman4321Yea. Prior to that, I have known about Scratch since around 2014 (when I discovered that Scratch Jr. and Scratch as a whole existed). Because I was into cars and racing, I decided to search up "Race" or something similar on scratch and I came across AForce's "Add Yourself To The Race", a project created in the early 2010's. This is where I discovered "Add Yourself" projects, and Scratch-made running races. Obviously, I remixed this project. Also, I give an honourable (I use British English) mention to Rastacarian's race project, and Mashu's second and later race projects (his first was mostly stolen from Rastacarians, but he learned his lesson afterwards. I constantly updated the project through 2020, and occasionally through the next two years (I have barely updated it during 2023) using the Turbowarp app, but during 2022, I discovered high-quality "Add Yourself" projects, primarily by Twin138956Scratch, ZYellow, and Burgnew_On_A_Laptop (Who is moving to BurgCube). These projects had complex hitbox systems which added a lot to these projects. So during sometime around Febuary 2023, I suddenly had an idea to combine a similar hitbox system from those high-quality "Add Yourself" projects with a race similar to that "Add Yourself" race that CreativeKid started all the way back in October 2009. This is the result. I could of released a similar project on BananaMan4321Yea during April 2023, but because I used Turbowarp-exclusive blocks in that build, I had to delay it to fix things up, and I ended up adding new characters and polishing old ones in-between that time. Fortunately, I was able to release it on the 17th of August. Remixing instructions: Since this project runs on Turbowarp, the instructions are a bit more complex. First, you remix as usual, then, you go to Turbowarp and input the link to your scratch remix. Afterwards, you create your character in the Turbowarp editor (using a character as a base (try not to replace any of them)), and if you think you are finished, save it to your computer. Then, go onto scratch, then click 'see inside', and afterwards, click 'file', then 'load from your computer', and find the project file you downloaded from Turbowarp. Make sure that your project only uses Scratch blocks!
UPDATE LOG: 28th September 2023: A few minor improvements, added the Runner from the Run series, and a high quality version of the Run 2 theme. 29th August 2023: Corrected the name of the project. 27th August 2023: Minor update involving the slipstream mechanic, slipstreaming now also increases acceleration. 17th August 2023: Release. This project isn't meant for scratch and is meant for Turbowarp instead. Go to this link: turbowarp.org//883313709/ If you are using scratch, the project will freeze. It will either freeze on the thumbnail or redirect you to Turbowarp, which is where you should run this project on. I decided to release this on my Stroketrick account since Bananaman4321Yea is an older and obscure account. This project also isn't strictly and "Add Yourself" project, and is more of a race engine for everybody to use. The Extremely Long List Of Credits: Scratchers: @Aforce - "Add Yourself To The Race": One of the most popular "Add Yourself" projects and the project that started it all. @CreativeKid - Original Version (Removed). Rastacarian - his "Rasta-Race": An early example of a race-fight project. Mashu11 - his later "MashXRace" projects. @Twin138956Scratch, @ZYellow and @Burgnew_On_A_Laptop - Early hitbox-based Add Yourself Projects. @BarryFans - Honourable mention, he is a big part of hitbox-based Add Yourself Projects too! Kyle - Another Honourable mention, he isn't linked for privacy reasons. @Hobson-TV - The sprite used for the Happy Meal character (comes from "The Last Eggnog", another racing game that serves as some of the inspiration, but not as much). @PhirripSyrrip - Pepsi Can Sprite. I did the programming, most vector-based assets (particularly with "Stickman On A Tricycle" and the ROBLOX Noob), and I assembled the characters of Sonic, Peppino, Mario, Kirby and SpongeBob from spritesheets. On another note, I did modify some of the sprites for SpongeBob as well. Other Credits: Scratch Team - Original sprites for Scratch Cat, Gobo, Pico, and Nano. SEGA - Sonic, and three songs used in the game. McDonalds - For the Happy Meal. ROBLOX - For the original "blocky" characters. Tour De Pizza - Peppino Spaghetti. Nintendo - For the legendary Super Mario (still my favourite character somehow). Also, the Yoshi Head, and that one song from Mario Party DS. PepsiCo - For Pepsi, of course. Jazza - For the original AI Sponge The modelers for Strokerick (AKA Stroketrick) and Loudward for doing their best. Ford - For the 1923 Ford Model T. Dimrain47 - For the song "Operation Evolution". The song can be found on a website not intended for the audience of scratch. And that ends the very long credits sequence!
