PLEASE GO TO LEADER APPS FIRST BEFORE CAMPER. I don't have enough apps in yet so I need leaders to run cabins. If worse comes to worse, I can manage a few cabins at once, but it would be super helpful if I got some people to help me run cabins. Leader apps link: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/877657079/ Hey everyone! Welcome to the first session of SSC, or Scratch Songwriting Camp. Make sure to read the whole description before you sign up! SSC, also called Scratch Songwriting Camp, is an annual songwriting camp that will run for 1 month. Campers and leaders set a "song goal" for themselves. This is a goal you set that involves songwriting and/or singing. It could be to write 4 songs per week, sing 1 song and share it, or to write music for 2 songs-it can be anything! SSC also includes nine cabins this session. You'll be leading one of them. Every day, there will be a new daily song prompt. The dailies will have varying point prizes that you can win for your cabin by completing them. There are also weekly song prompts that take longer and earn you more points. Those change every Sunday. Sessions will run from the 1st of a month to the 31st. Like SWC, which this camp is loosely based on, this camp is 100% online, so you can log on for 20 minutes to do the daily, or you can be on for hours at a time. The choice is yours! You'll be sorted into one of 9 cabins for this session. Remember, a name is just a name, and you don't have to write in the genre you are placed in. Pop (whatever you hear on the radio) Country (blake shelton and early taylor swift) Underrated (songs that wouldn't go viral but are pretty good) Foreign Language (any song that's written in a different language except korean because that would be k-pop) Rock (elvis i guess?) Rap (ice-spice etc.) Dance-Pop (britney spears, katy perry, stuff they'd play at a dance party) K-Pop (if you've ever listened to TWICE or ITZY or the korean songs of BTS, or BLACKPINK, you know what I'm talking about) Sad-Pop (sadder songs) Unfortunately, SSC will have to be postponed as somehow we didn't get any camper signups. I'm so sorry for the delay and I hope leaders won't leave, as this will delay our start even more. Your song goal can be anything! It could be that you write and sing 1 song on Scratch, share one of your songs with another Scratcher, or just write 5 songs! Whatever you choose to make your goal, be sure to make it realistic. You will gain your cabin extra points by completing your goal, so don't make your goal to write 20 songs and get them professionally recorded unless you realistically think you can do that within the month. Whatever you do, always remember to follow the Scratch Community Guidelines. Be nice to everyone, help others, be supportive, and maybe give some constructive criticism? NOTE: Only give constructive criticism if the Scratcher who made the work is OK with it. Life > SSC. If you need a break, that's totally fine. If something is keeping you from completing a daily, then just don't. It's not Duolingo, it doesn't penalize you for missing a day. Prioritize school, life, family, home, whatever you have, over SSC. If you have no problems, that's fine too, but Life > SSC. Here are the questions you'll have to answer (in a comment) to be a camper! 1 | Do you have any plans in certain months that will affect your activity levels? 2 | On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your activity levels? 3 | Of the cabins listed in Notes and Credits, please choose 2-3 cabins you'd be happy to be placed in. If you have no preference, just say that. 4 | What is your song goal? (For less experienced songwriters, I recommend a simple goal of writing X songs. For more experienced songwriters, challenge yourself and set a goal to share or sing one of your newly written songs or something like that.) 5 | Would you be comfortable having any of your comments during SSC quoted or screenshotted for the SSC memory book? (Answer with either "always", "ask first", or "never") 6 | Have you participated in any other camps before?
Cabin Descriptions will be added once leaders are picked. Pop: Country: Underrated: Foreign Language: Rock: Rap: The cabin atmosphere will be a mix of competitiveness and being kind to one another, and we will help each other get better at songwriting and just overall try to have fun while helping each other! (Leader: @Ulraboystark) Dance-Pop: K-Pop: Sad-Pop: In Sad-Pop, we focus on creating an uplifting and reflective environment, where you can learn, grow, and make friends -and memories- to last a lifetime. We welcome songwriters of all experience levels, and focus on nurturing a care-free environment that always (always!) puts your real life first. (Leader: @Strawberry-Lemon)
