I had writer's block and was really busy today, so sorry if this one wasn't all that great. I genuinely don't even know what I was doing-- ~ First: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/854964808/ Previous: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/882466437 Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/887021621/ ~ Age rating: 11+ (basically just as long as you're a mature reader) ~ Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Ravynne. Most fairy tales start with a “once upon a time”, don’t they? Those kinds of stories are the ones that usually end with a “happily ever after” or a “and in the end, all was well”. Those stories are the fairy tales told not from the side of the villain, but instead from the hero. That’s why they always end with a simple, pretty ending. But the truth is, not every story will end like that. How often do you find a hero in a villain’s place, a villain in a hero’s place? It’s strange to think that in some ways, I was both. Ever-drifting, ever-waiting, wanting an escape from the in between that I could never seem to find my way out of. I wanted to be like the rest of them, fit into one of the neat boxes that they had made. Heroes on the right, villains on the left. What do you mean, “the people who don’t fall into either”? Why, of course, there aren’t any of those! There is a reason we have these categories, these labels, you know. So everyone knows exactly who they are. But how many really do? When you get pushed down, knocked over every time, you get smaller. That’s just a fact. You get smaller and smaller and quieter and quieter until they don’t notice you. Until you’re just a speck of dust in a land of giants, telling you who you are and where you should be. Once upon a time, there was a princess, and she lived far, far away from the people in her kingdom. They hated her, for she and her family made all the wrong choices for all the wrong people. But they were okay. They were happy and healthy and going about their perfect lives, hidden away from all danger. Once upon a time, there was a girl. She had seen her father and mother killed for what they had said of the king. Revenge is a funny thing, isn’t it? It’s a raging fire that burns everything in its path, but in the end, how long does it take until everything is destroyed? The girl would see the princess and think, /How can they live like this? How can they not be ashamed of themselves for what they have done?/ Once upon a time, the king had drawn out a new law. The people would give up their homes in exchange for a new place, a dirty, dusty, shoved-away-from-everything home. After all they had given up, how much more could they take from them? The girl was furious. They did not deserve this. Once upon a time, a girl wanted justice. Justice for her family, her friends, her people. Once upon a time, a king was dead. Gone. Killed. /Serves him right./ The girl was locked away for life, her execution date to be determined. When they killed her, they were safe. Everything went back to normal. All was well. They lived happily ever after. The end. Only, was she truly the villain? ~ Once again, if you'd like to be notified when the next chapter comes out, just comment “I’d like to be notified!” and I’ll put your name on the list. Thanks for sticking with me thus far!
