Three Nights Chapter ONE The Crescent Moon NightP MoonPack Dove sat in the dark border between her and the Abyss, quietly reflecting on her life. The crescent moon shone bright, piercing the summer night. “Dove!” a small gray wolf bounded into her vision. “It’s Murky! Er, I mean Alpha Murky! He’s… he’s… well, he’s…” Dove sat up. “Oh dear. Take me to him immediately.” It was a quick walk to the Alpha Den. Inside the den, all was silent and still. “Ah, Dove. The first advisor of mine. Come closer.” Murky croaked. “I need to… nominate something.” “Bass,” growled Dove. “The oversized worm has taken it too far.” “Calm down, my child,” murmured Murky calmly. “There is much to say and not enough time to say it. But the Four Stars have given me a vision.” His eyes glowed purple, the same color of the fading sky. “There will be three children of night, Born under a sliver of a moon, Wrapped in chills of death upon birth, Together be joined to set packs right.” Dove gaped. “What do you mean?” The idea of a prophecy falling into the hands of the crescent moon, considered evil among her Pack, was utterly horrifying. “Ah, my child.” purred Murky, using her pet name with such fluid peace tears came to Dove’s eyes. “Whillow is giving birth.” “How did you..?” “I know. She told me. Tonight. Alas, I shall not live to see her child. But I know that the cub..” he coughed, and the lavender in his eyes dimmed. “The cub shall be named Raven, and Raven shall be a bird of your feather. The Alpha. By law, Bass is Alpha, for he is the only male wolf over seven years of age. But one day… all will change.” He whined once. “Dove, fare well.” “No!” Dove burst into tears as she nudged his fuzzy brown back, already beginning to rot. Then Whillow limped into the room. “I thought you should know. Raven is a girl.” *** ShadePack Leaf steadied his paws and growled as he circled the groundhog. The crescent moon gave him the necessary light to attack. “LEAFFFFFFFFF!” a small, baby wolf bounded into Leaf’s space, screaming at the top of her lungs. Her fur was deep brown, and her tail had two black stripes of which her name derived from: Bumblebee. “LEAFFFFFFFFF! POTENTIA IS HAVING A BAAAAAAAABBBBBYYYYYYYY!” Leaf glared at her. “Take. Me. To. My. Wife.” he hissed. Bumblebee bounded to the den, crashing into about a dozen trees on the way. “Dere you bar.” stuttered Bumblebee through a bleeding nose. Leaf charged into the den. “Potentia! I came as soon as… is it a boy… what did you name it… are you all right…” “Leaf.” sighed Potentia. “I…I… I probably won’t live.” Leaf gasped. “The pup’s name will be Ingen.” said Potentia. “I… I wish we could be together forever.” “I know” was the feeble reply. Potentia’s eyes glowed a bright purple. “Goodbye, Leaf. Take care of the child.” Then she crumpled to the ground, a small whelp that looked like a fox crying and wailing softly over her body. For the first time in his life, Leaf sobbed.
