They were devastated that they had produced a being with non-magical capabilities and they assumed the other was just the same. When Sonia reached the age of seven and was just starting to develop her magical ability she was adopted by Minerva McGonagall who found her scavenging for food in an alleyway. Fearing that her sister wouldn't get the same warm reception Sonia hid her existence from the magical community and insisted that she stay at an old dilapidated shake in the woods not far from Hogsmede with only a few trusted villagers entrusted with making sure she was fed and safe. To this day Sonia doesn't have friends because of her trust issues and fear of having her Squib sister discovered ♥
