To those of you who don’t know me, hi. I’m stoat. I’m a high schooler who has been in TFCRP for almost 3 years. I’ve seen some things on scratch recently that I’d like to address. The way people look at art in the scratch community is honestly a little disheartening to me as a person who has been here for years and grown with my platform. This project has been made not to insult people or to start any hate towards anyone (if anything like that is said I will report and delete the comments). I’ve seen a lot of people treat art if it’s a contest. Art is a subjective and an incredibly personal thing to create. No one’s art is perfect and that’s okay! We are all learning and growing. That is amazing and I’m so lucky to be able to share my personal art journey with you guys. As someone who had been in the mindset of art being a linear track up until recently (and still struggles with valuing my time and being happy with my art), I know from personal experience that comparing your art to others only leads to burnout and exhaustion. So why do I draw? -I draw because I love to be creative and I love to create. -I love being able to share my designs with you guys! -The feeling of being able to look back and see how far you’ve come is incredible -But truly, I draw because it makes me happy And it should make you happy too. It’s okay to want other things from your art! I personally would love to have an art career when I’m an adult. But it shouldn’t be a burden or something you hate doing or do only from maliciousness. On a second, shorter note: I have been seeing a lot of hate towards the TFCRP admins which is just so disheartening. Like everyone else here, we are a bunch of kids who are trying our best. If you have an issue with anything, please don’t hesitate to talk to me or any other members of the team. I promise we aren’t going to ban you for small things or for just talking. Communication matters and we are just here to help!
