Scratch is a flaming dumpster fire. You can’t deny it. The trending page is frozen, cloud servers are always broken, and heck—Scratch is now FEEDING YOUR ORIGINALITY INTO A SLOP MACHINE. (Edit: It seems that Scratch training AI on projects is not what's happening... according to certain Scratch users. However, their terms clearly state that they can train AI on any of our creations, so I'm not changing this until they fix that. Along with all this, they say "RIGHT NOW we are not training AI on projects. That is not conforting...) I would recommend cancelling/not purchasing the “Scratch Membership,” since by doing so you are supporting generative AI. I’m not accusing anybody of supporting generative AI, especially since this came by surprise this morning and you might’ve already purchased a Scratch Membership. Honestly, this might be the end of Scratch for me. I’ve never really understood why somebody would quit Scratch instead of remaining somewhat active or at least log on every couple of months, but this is crossing the line. I will never support generative AI. It’s not only stealing art, but making people’s minds worse in school, work, and life in general. I’m not saying you’re evil if you like generative AI. I understand it’s a powerful tool, and it might make things easy. But at the same time, you’re at a misunderstanding of what it truly is. You have every reason to hate on AI. I’m not encouraging hate, and I never have before… But this is a time where backlash is necessary. I’m not even going to mention all the other damage AI is doing, both to the environment and your personal life. Computer RAM, graphics cards, and possible other pieces of tech in the future are inflating in price at aggressively high speeds. This will only get worse as people and companies continue to use AI, using it as an excuse to be lazy in jobs, artwork, writings, and so on. Please, don’t use AI, I ask of you. Only bad things will happen as we progress with it. If somebody says “embrace it, it’s bound to spread either way!,” just remember… it’ll only happen if you let it happen. #MakeScratchGreatAgain #NoAIOnScratch
Yes, I wrote that whole thing just because Scratch is making an AI helper or whatever they're up to. This project is not only for Scratch (even though I did put the tag there), but for the entire internet as a whole.
