~Chapter Four~ Madeline was sitting in a desk in Potions class listening to Professor Snape teach the correct way of brewing a potion. "The only way that potion brewing will work is if you put the ingredients IN order..." Snape's words drifted off in Madeline's head while she daydreamed of a warm sunny day when she was out in the back fields of her house with her family celebrating her sister Carrie's tenth birthday. 'I wonder how she is' she thought. "Miss Weasley, pay attention to what I am saying!" Madeline sat up in her chair, startled. "I'm sorry Professor, I guess I drifted off there for a moment." "You will stay after class, Miss Weasley." Snape said sternly. "Y..yes Professor." She replied. 'I shouldn't have daydreamed.' After class was over, Madeline walked up to Snape's desk. She dreaded every step. "Miss Weasley, as a punishment for not paying attention in class, you will not have the pleasure of going to Hogsmeade this Saturday." Madeline's heart sunk. "Yes, Professor." "You may go now." Madeline walked out of the classroom when she found Oliver Whistle right out in the hallway. "What did he want?" Oliver asked. "Nothing /you/ need to know." She replied a bit coldly. Then she walked away to go to Herbology class. When she arrived in Herbology class, they had already started. So she sneaked over to where Ginny and Sarah were standing. "What did Snape want?" Whispered Ginny. "He punished me for not paying attention in class. He said that I can't go to Hogsmeade on Saturday." "Oh, I'm sorry! Do you want me to stay back with you on Saturday?" "No, you really want to go. I know that you have been looking forward to this for a long time." "Your right, I have been looking forward to it..." "Young ladies! Please pay attention." "I guess today has been a weird day." Sighed Ginny. "Yeah, I can't go to Hogsmeade on account of not paying attention, and now we have caused fifty points being taken off from Gryffindor on account of not paying attention. Ugh, why have we not been paying attention today!" They were up in the dormitories while talking about their unfortunate day. "And, Oliver Whistle is making me so annoyed, after when Snape punished me, Oliver was out in the hall waiting to ask me what happened. But it's not his right to know my punishment!" Complained Madeline. "Yeah, but it's over now so don't think about it anymore." Ginny said. "Yeah, your right." And Madeline fell asleep. That next morning, Madeline received another letter from her parents. She rejoiced when she heard that Carrie was doing better. But her smiles faded when she heard that her cousin from her mum's side was coming to Hogwarts next year. Her cousin Freddie was an annoying, mischievous, troublesome little kid. He is the same age as her sister, Carrie, so they would both be coming next year. "I am excited to have Carrie here, but Freddie is a whole different story." She was telling Ginny and Sarah. "Do you think he would be a Gryffindor?" Asked Sarah. "I doubt it, his father, my uncle Stan, was a Slytherin. And he has the personality of one." Saturday came very quickly, and that was the day when all the Hogwarts students would be going to Hogsmeade. When all the students were gathering up to go, Madeline stood in the corner watching. Without knowing it, Headmaster Dumbledore approached her. "Aren't you going as well?" He asked. Startled, Madeline answered, "No sir, Professor Snape told me I couldn't go, as a punishment." "I talked to him about that, that was a big punishment just for not paying a little attention. I said that you could go as long as you stayed after class for a week instead." Madeline was beaming with happiness. "You really mean that I can go? Thank you so very much!" "I remember being very excited for my first trip to Hogsmeade, and I think you should get the experience. I see that they are leaving, go ahead." "Thank you so much!" And she ran to catch up with the others. "What are you doing?" Asked Ginny as Madeline came up to her. "I'm going to Hogsmeade!" Exclaimed Madeline. "Did Snape change his mind?" "No, Dumbledore talked to him." Madeline said while smiling. When they got to Hogsmeade, Ginny, Sarah, and Madeline decided to go get a butterbeer first. So they ordered three butterbeers and sat at a table to wait for them. "Iv'e never tried one before." Sarah said. "I haven't either, I have always wanted to though." They were chatting when someone came with the butterbeers. "Mmmmm, this is so good!" Madeline said as she had her first sip. As they were enjoying their drinks, Sarah whispered to Madeline, "I've noticed that Oliver Whistle has been staring at us for the past ten minutes!" "I have noticed also." Ginny added. Madeline looked around and indeed saw Oliver Whistle looking at them. "This is creepy, lets go somewhere else." She whispered. When they got out into the cool air, they were trying to decide where to go next. "We should go to Honeydukes!" Suggested Sarah. ⇩Continued⇩
