========================================== ooooOoooOo- ========================================== Z sat in the corner of the landing pod he called home. It wasn't his. No. He found it relatively untouched, in the middle of a broken down town. As far as he was concerned, the original inhabitants weren't around anymore. At least, they didn't show up and tell him to screw off or the sorts. He just assumed they were dead. He sniffed. He liked to be left alone to his own thoughts sometimes, even though it brought up questions he never had the answer to. One such question chewed at him like a tick under a dogs color. He could never quite itch it. He never could explain why he had no solver. The more he looked at it, the more funny the situation got, because it wasn't just that, his programming was off. He suffered from constant seizures from his programming contradicting each other in the most simplest of ways. They tried accessing things that just simply didn't exist. Z assumed the lack of a solver program had something to do with this, but he couldn't tell. He sniffled again. A small chirp interrupted his train of thoughts. "Hi buddy," Z said as a adolescent sentinel stumbled into the pod, "How are you?" The sentinel chirped again, then plopped down by Z and nudged him. Z scratched it's head as he pondered the new dilemma that stared him in the face. You see, one should remember getting a pet, but he had no recollection of when or where he picked up a sentinel friend. It simply made no sense. He told people he found him broken, and fixed him, but the truth was, he just simply didn't remember! The last thing he could remember, was waking up in the snow with the sentinel sleeping beside him. How is it possible for the last nineteen years of his life, to simply not exist? Z had no explanation, and it bothered him to no end! The more he chewed on it, the more questions he had. Something had to have happened those last nineteen years, and he knew it was nineteen years. He knew his name and his age. He was serial designation Z, 22 years old. He knew nothing else. Everything about his identity was just simply... erased. The sentinel chirped and laid it's head down in his lap. Z absent mindedly continued to scratch him, and soon enough a low purring reverberated throughout the pod. Z went back to his thoughts, but after a while, the sentinel's purring slowly lulled him to sleep... ...X laughed and poked him. "Come on, it's not that bad." Z cringed. "But it's gross," he said, and shuddered. "Don't be a sissy, they taste good!" X giggled. Z held the roach between his fingers and shuddered again. "It's still moving, do I have to ea-" "yes, you said you didn't want to eat workers anymore, this is the next best option," she said, stifling another giggle, "they're honestly better than workers, which, also aren't the best." she said, leaning over the table. Z peered closely at the insect. "That's... Reassuring." he sighed and closed his eyes, then popped it in his mouth and chewed. He sat there for a second, then proptly spit it out. "Ew, no, you're gross, just, no. ew." he said brushing off his tongue. "Your loss, and your wierd," she said, tossing a handful in her mouth, "they're honestly not that bad, you're just picky." Z squinted at her. "I will never understand the things you do or say." X shrugged and leaned back on her chair, "It'll just make me even more mysterious, I've always wanted to be a creepy ghost witch." she said so matter of factly, it shocked Z into laughing... ...Z howled. He howled so loud that the moons should have heard his grief. He cried out in pain as clutched his sisters broken body closer to his own. The heat radiated over his body as the flames licked higher and higher. The monsters they were, they had no reason to attack them. All was lost, and it was all. his. fault. Tears streaming down his face he pounded the scorched earth and swore. He swore, that whoever did this, he would track them down, and kill them. His tattered wings drifted closer to him. He cried out again, and curled around his sister. Every part of him hurt, but he didn't care. no one did... ...Z woke up panting. Who was that? He closed his eyes and forced himself to breathe slower. He tried to grasp at the fading memories, but they were already gone. He started crying. He didn't understand it, he KNEW that person, he did, he was sure of it, but try as he might, he couldn't remember a thing. he curled into a ball and sniffled, still crying. Nothing helped. by now didn't remember anything from the dream other than the sense of dread it bestowed upon him. What was he crying about? He didn't understand. What was it that was bothering him so badly? He longed for answers for what could possibly be wrong with him. He knew, as hard as he tried, he probably would never find the answer. He was broken. ==========================================
