We looked for a way up but still couldn't find one. "Wait! I have an idea!" Winter turned and looked at me. I howled. A brunch of howls returned my call. "Why didn't you do that earlier?" Winter asked. "Why didn't you call to Brownie earlier?" I retorted. We glared. A howl came from above. I shot a howl back. "Where are you Moon!" I heard my mate howl. "I'm at the bottom of the cliff! I landed in a pool! I need help getting back up!" I howled back. "Mama?" I heard Red howl. I felt my heart ache. "Red! Stay with Hunter! I'm coming up as soon as I can!" I howled back. "Who's Red?" Winter asked me. "My youngling..." I trailed off. "I thought wolves had litters," Winter said, "We do. He had a sister and a brother. Gold and Howler. He was the runt. I loved him though so I kept him. The three of them got sick, I tried to feed them, but...Gold and Howler are no longer here," I felt tears fall from my eyes. "I-I am so sorry," Winter said. "Do you know how to get back up?" Hunter called down. "Nope. Any ideas?" I howled back. No reply. "Babe?" I called up. No reply. "RED!? HUNTER!?" I nearly scream. Nothing. A whinny comes from above. "Winter isn't dea--" I hear Hunter scream. I see a little red wolf pup come flying. He goes splashing into the pool. "RED!" I leap into the pool and pull him out. "Red! Please! No..." I start to cry. "M-Mama?" Red asks. "Red! My baby!" I curl around him. He coughs. I see clawmarks on his back. "What happened?" I ask. "Big horse, smash...dada..." Red cries. I feel my heart break. I howl. Red howls with me. I curl around Red. I feel him start to fade. "He needs food!" I turn to Winter. She looks at me. "I don't know how to hunt," She says. "I am not losing Hunter and Red tonight," I say running toward the cliffside. I find a dead rabbit. I bring it back to Red. But I'm too late. He is gone. "Red..." I trail off. I feel rage and pain and hurt. My family is gone...
