⬫◊ Chapter 10 part 2: A Very Hogwarts Christmas ◊⬫ “Caput Draconis” Aurora stood in front of the portrait of the Fat Lady, who didn't seem to care that she was a Ravenclaw to let her pass. Harry and Ron had told her the password so that she could visit them during the holidays, in such a way that she had already grown accustomed to the red sofas and gold decorations in the Gryffindor common room. “Morning, Miss Black. Merry christmas!" Fred said as soon as she appeared in the doorway. "Nice earrings by the way, are they a gift?" George smiled. It really was almost impossible to tell them apart. “Yes” she said excitedly “They are from Theo Nott”. Just moments before, those silver earrings were wrapped in a purple box under the tree. “How beautiful love is, right George? Is that your boyfriend?” Fred blurted out cheekily, looking at Aurora with a mischievous smile. "No! He is my friend” She blushed. The good thing is that the twins didn't seem to notice. "See? I told you she was with Gabriel,” George said smugly. Fred dramatically handed him a knut. Aurora couldn't believe what she saw. “I'm not dating anyone!” she said a little louder than necessary. George sighed in defeat and handed the coin back to his brother. That's when she realized... "Wait, do you know Gabriel?" “Is that a question? Gabe's like our third twin, honey.” Wait a moment. Had she just blushed? What if…? No, it couldn't be. Not at all. Just like she hadn't gone running to get THE note to compare it with the sticker on Theo's package to see if it was the same handwriting... although obviously she couldn't make anything clear because the 'From: Theo' was typed . Then she had tried all the other presents, of course: Hermione, Neville, Lyra and Draco, who had surprisingly left an assortment of her favorite sweets. Why? How did he know her taste? Unanswered questions for her. There was another gift, without a name on. A pink knit sweater that the Weasleys quickly identified as being made by their mother. Surprises aside, after that, Percy didn't protest again about letting a ravenclaw into the tower. It was a dream Christmas. It had been a long time since Aurora had laughed as much as in that snowball fight with the Weasleys, Harry and Mildred Potter, who happened to be his cousin. They tasted a true banquet in the Great Hall, decorated with a large tree and countless garlands, lights and magical snowflakes that danced around the room without melting with the cozy temperature. Although none of that was as comforting as the afternoons in which they sat by the fire in the common room with a hot chocolate in their hands to talk, read, investigate Flamel and the Blacks, play chess... One day, Harry woke up to some pretty hard to believe news. According to what he said (and, from his expression, there was no doubt that he wasn't lying) he had found a mirror while he was running from Filch with his invisibility cloak. And the best thing was that the mirror had shown him his family. Yes, his deceased parents. A pang crossed Aurora's heart as soon as she heard those words... but she could not refuse to accompany him that same night. It took Harry a while to find the two armors guarding the door, but they managed to get there without being caught, although with a headache caused by Ron's complaints. It was a magnificent mirror, high to the ceiling, with a very elaborate gilt frame and the inscription: Eresed leno aro cut edon isara cut se onotse. However, neither Aurora nor Ron were able to see Harry's parents. “No… I'm alone… but I'm different… older… and I'm a Head Boy! I have a badge like Bill's and I'm lifting the House Cup and the Quidditch Cup. I'm also Quidditch captain!" Ron said as he stood in front of the mirror. Without too many considerations, Aurora pushed him aside to observe her reflection. A tear rolled down her cheek. "What do you see? Harry asked. There was a woman with long curly brown hair, very pretty and with the most beautiful smile she had ever seen. Her mother. Although much healthier and more vivacious, with rosy cheeks and serene eyes. And next to her... he must have been her father. He was tall and elegantly built. A strand of his black hair waved in front of his face, partially hiding his handsome features and one of his silver eyes… which bore a strong resemblance to Aurora's. A sudden noise in the hallway brought her out of her thoughts. "We have to get out of here" Despite Ron's warnings, Harry and Aurora kept the mirror on their heads all day and returned when the sun set. "So back again, huh? I see that, like hundreds before you, you have discovered the delights of the Mirror of Erised.” Dumbledore. “We…didn't know what it was” “It shows neither more nor less than the deepest and most desperate desire of our hearts. Many men have gone mad with this mirror... It'll be taken to a new house tomorrow. Harry, Aurora, I ask you not to look for it again."
