I’ve never made a basic fire dragon oc before, which is saying a lot because every non fandom oc I have IS A DRAGON Backstory—- Cygnus Fenn, born into a family of blacksmiths and warriors. The Fenns are tough, battle hardened dragons who deeply treasure their legacy in the kingdom of Mirai. They are strictly loyal to their leader and will do anything they say, even as times get tougher and the kingdoms climb for more and more power. Cygnus was an odd kid. His scales dull and his breath cold. To the dismay of his father, Orion, Cygnus took an interest in the arts. He started singing for people, weaving tapestries and painting murals. He loved decorating himself in jewelry he wove from cattails. He was outgoing and friendly and began to make friends with peaceful people like him. His father was very upset at this, and tried to push Cygnus to continue their line of craftsmanship, making weapons for use in battle. Cygnus retaliated, attempting to run away, but was found in tied up in a fishing net by the lake a day later. Around this time, Cygnus’s little sister, Cloud, had hatched. The whole family was overjoyed at this, excited to have a new member in their family to (hopefully, but they never told Cygnus this) replace Cygnus and keep their family reputation going. Cloud passed away shortly after hatching due to a sickness going around at the time. What should’ve been just a common cold sadly took cloud with it. Now with more stress on the Fenns then ever, Orion sent Cygnus off to learn blacksmithing against his will. As much as Cygnus wanted to fight back, he had no choice. He was still grieving the loss of cloud and couldn’t handle more stress. Cygnus soon became a blacksmithing prodigy, becoming very well known for his intricately crafted weapons. Despite the fact Cygnus did not like their job, he did what he had to do to keep his father happy, who at the time, watched over him carefully. His mother, on the other hand, was supportive of Cygnus and helped him throughout his childhood learn to weave and paint. Despite being an extremely powerful warrior, Saturn enjoyed the artworks of her son. She thought of them as beautiful, and argued to Orion that not everything has to be about family legacy to benefit the kingdom and maybe, just maybe, some art would be very nice to have here. Saturn tried to fight back when Orion sent Cygnus off, but to no avail. Orion had too much of a grip on the family. Saturn soon left for a different kingdom, never looking back. Of course Cygnus eventually stopped in interest of his passion, art. Though still technically a craftsman, he now mostly is seen singing for small gatherings or weaving necklaces and bracelets to hand out to people. He moved to the other side of the kingdom to avoid his father and now creates a mix of metallic jewelry using his blacksmithing skills and woven art.
