Her throat was closing up; her lungs wheezed as she sucked in small breaths, but she knew it wasn't enough. Trembling, she scrambled out of the bed Jake had given her, rushing to find her bag. She quickly pulled her inhaler out of it, positioning it before she gave herself five puffs of medicine, only stopping when the black spots dancing in her eyes faded away, and she could breathe normally again. She heard a knock on the door, and looked up as Jake entered. She was sitting on the floor, her legs crossed crisscross applesauce style. A look of concern flashed across his face when he saw the inhaler in her hand. "Sophia? Are you okay? I heard you rummaging around and thought something might be wrong." "Y-yeah. I-I just, uh, was having an episode," she admitted, tucking her inhaler back into her bag. "Episode? Do you want me to take you to the hospital or something?" Jake asked, but Sophia was already shaking her head. "No! I mean, no. No thank you, I'll be fine. I have my medicine," she added. Jake paused. "Can I see it?" "Erm...sure?" Sophia said, pulling her inhaler back out of her bag and handing it over to Jake, hoping he wasn't about to do something mean. Thankfully he did it, only inspecting the label before he looked back at her, confused. "I don't know what this is, but this isn't medicine for asthma." "What? I don't know what you're talking about. This stuff has been with me ever since I was like...like...." Sophia paused, suddenly unsure. She frowned. "Huh...I can't remember. But it still helps me." Jake sighed and handed her inhaler back. "If you say so. But if possible, I'd get that checked out. There's something weird going on there." Sophia looked away, frustrated at the prospect that yet another thing in her life wasn't what it seemed to be. Jake seemed to sense that she didn't want to talk anymore and left the room quietly, closing the door behind him. ˜”*°•.˜”*°• End of Chapter •°*”˜.•°*”˜
