Tale of the Two Sisters || Chapter 1

Instructions

Chapter 1: "You want to go don't you?" Emilia Vance was seven years old and the same age as her sister Sonia McGonagall who had been adopted by Minerva McGonagall Transfiguration teacher of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. "No I don't" Sonia was a lovely girl with long wavy brown hair and her eyes a stunning hazel unlike her sister who was a little scrawny with her frizzled hair and ash stained face. "You know as well as I that I never expected Minerva to adopt me-" but her sister interrupted "This isn't about Minerva!" she practically snarled "This is about you going to Hogwarts!" Sonia shook her head. "I already told you I'm not going" she said stubbornly "I'm staying with you" but Emilia stood up her eyes ablaze with a look of mixed rage and sadness; "I can take care of myself" she said "It's just that you think I'm helpless just because I'm a Squib" before her sister could interrupt she went on "Plus I know how much you want to go to that school- you were staring at that letter that the strange man Dumbledore gave you all yesterday- I don't mind you shouldn't stay just because of me you need your education... plus the magic might come in handy y'know" Sonia's eyes widened was her sister really saying she was okay with her leaving? "Y-you really mean it?" she asked "That bungalow we checked out yesterday looks nice perhaps you could stay there until I get back for holidays and stuff" Emilia smiled and nodded although she herself felt a prickle of jealously her sister was exactly everything she wanted to be. "I'll be fine you go and have fun" she said forcing a laugh. "The train is supposed to leave tomorrow" Sonia smiled eyes bright she didn't want to admit it but she really was excited at the prospect of learning magic. (1 day later) "Ready? I paid a visit to Diagon Alley yesterday while you were off playing in the garden I got everything you need... everything except a wand- you need to get that yourself! As Ollivander always says the wand chooses the wizard!" Minerva McGonagall explained. Excitement quickened Sonia's heartbeat "A wand!" she thought happily "So when will I get a wand?" she said aloud Minerva smiled "How about now? Come on hold my hand dear- we'll apparate much easier than walking or flying... now hold on tight... just a warning you'll feel pretty queasy especially since it's your first time." Sonia felt the floor vanish as she spun round and round her world filled with swirling colors and her stomach felt like it was doing backflips. Finally they came to a stumbling halt at a shop. Letting out a gasp Sonia stumbled back a huge man was staring down at her probably the largest man she had ever seen! "Hello Hagrid" Minerva shook hands with the giant who beamed at them both "Ello Minerva got Arry inside picking out his own wand! Go on go and see im- looks like James that's what everyone's sayin" Sonia blinked at Minerva who nodded at her so this "Arry" was the none other then the famous Harry Potter! The one who defeated He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named when he was just a child! Sonia stepped into the shop a wand whizzed by her nose and another dodged between her legs a boy was standing in the middle of the store looking quite uncertain as the wands were given and taken from him. "Tricky customer~" the man who was flourishing his wand with great enthusiasm hummed as he emptied box after box. Until finally the boy was able to get the wand that suited him best. "Holly and Phoenix feather" the man announced as the boy stored his wand beneath his robes. "Ahhh Minerva welcome!" he then said after noticing the newcomers "I assume this is young Sonia?" when the women nodded he let out a delighted yell and flourished his wand once more and a dozen wands stopped in front of Sonia. "Go on" he urged "Give them a little wave!" but after waving the fifteen wand she was given she began to lose hope although the man seemed utterly delighted. "Trickier than Mister Potter are you?" he chuckled "Not to worry- I have never failed a student yet!" finally when the twenty-seventh wand had been waved a bright boutique of flowers shot from its end and the store clerk let out a triumphant yell "Ha! I told you! I told you! Elm and unicorn hair~ yes yes..." he panted and immediately turned away. "A bit crazy isn't he?" Sonia turned the boy from earlier was smiling at her. "Oh.. him? Yeah completely nuts" the boy laughed and extended his hand "Thank goodness I'm not the only who is apparently a 'tricky customer!' I'm Harry but for some reason everyone seems to know that already" Sonia grinned and told him her name. "So" she said "Excited?" the boy nodded quite seriously "A bit worried" he admitted. Before Sonia could respond the door opened again and a tall lady walked in clutching what looked like her son in a tight grip. "Hello Ollivander" the women said briskly "I'm looking for a wand for Draco"
