Keefe plopped himself down on the wide, fluffy bed. “Nap time!” he announced. “Come on, we have to focus on important things!” Sophie grumbled, pulling out her desk chair and sitting down, rummaging in her drawers. Keefe sat up, watching her. “But important things aren’t fun.” “Magnate Leto wants us to finish this assignment, or else we’re getting detention.” “I like that second option,” Keefe told her. Sophie shot him a glare. Keefe stood up, crossing the room and sitting on the corner of her seat, pointing to the paper on her desk. “Okay, these are all the ingredients to make a certain elixir. We’re supposed to figure out what it is.” “That should be easy, seeing as I’m soooo good at Alchemy,” Sophie muttered, rolling her eyes. “Hey, blowing up stuff is a skill, trust me, I know; I’m the best at blowing things up,” Keefe said, oh-so-humbly. Sophie sighed. “Alright, so, what’s the elixir?” “Greenleaf elixir,” Keefe said immediately. “It’s got all those ingredients.” “How do you know the ingredients to Greenleaf?” Sophie needed to know. Keefe smirked at her. “Let’s just say I’ve had to get crafty in able to give my dad the perfect, carrot top hairdo.” Sophie grinned. “You’re ridiculous.” “And you love it!” Sophie stood up, hooking her ankle around the chair leg and pulling as she stepped away from the desk, causing Keefe to fall off. He landed on the floor with a thud, looking startled. “Wow, Foster! You really swept me off my feet there.” Sophie grabbed a pillow and chucked it at his face. Keefe jumped to his feet, grabbing the pillow and retaliating, swinging it at her and knocking her onto the bed. She burst into giggles, sitting up on the bed. “Come on, we’ve got to finish this assignment.” Keefe let out a loud groan, face-planting down beside her. “I hate schoolwork.” “That’s strange, coming from the guy who’s the top of our class.” “Second,” he corrected. “Fitziepoo is the top.” Sophie crossed her arms, looking down. Keefe regretting mentioning Fitz’s name. He’d forgotten how sensitive she was to it now. “But I /am/ a genius,” he let out a sigh. “Being awesome is so difficult sometimes, you know?” Sophie’s mouth flickered with a smile. “You’re not half as awesome as me.” “Oh yeah?” Keefe jumped to his feet, offering his hand. She took it and he pulled her up, swinging her around and catching her by her waist. “I challenge you to a dance battle.” “..A dance battle.” “That’s right!” Keefe let her go and showed off a strange little dance that involved lots of arm wiggling. Sophie flicked his chest. “Ballroom dancing it is,” he decided, catching her hand before it returned to her side and guiding her across the room. She followed his steps, stumbling and trodding on his feet. “I didn’t know you could ballroom dance.” “I can’t,” Keefe shrugged. “You’re just so bad even I seem good.” Sophie stepped on his foot, purposefully hard this time. “Ow! Okay, okay, my lovely parents signed me up for a mentor when i was a kid.” “That’s adorable.” “Mhm,” Keefe narrowed his eyes, twirling her around. Someone knocked on the door. Within a blink of an eye, Sophie was back in her chair, Keefe beside her. “Come in!” Sophie called. Grady entered, glaring at Keefe before smiling at Sophie. “Sophie, some friends are over to see you.” “Okay, we’ll be right down,” Sophie replied as Keefe beamed at Grady, who glowered back. Edaline appeared behind him, peering through the doorway and giving Keefe and Sophie a thumbs up. As they left, Keefe turned to Sophie and said, “We’ll have to save your dance-tutoring for another day, Foster! Come on!” and they headed downstairs. THE END *GIGGLES*
