This is a new series where I talk about history in any period and any theater. Request suggestions down below. As you can see, this is ww2 pacific theater.
The red outline is empire of japan, yellow outline is Britain. the blue is usa. Press space or click for next slide. The first slide is an overview of the pacific. At the time, Japan was pushing into China and British-controlled India. After that, when USA was brought into the war, US and Japanese navies fought at Midway, a decisive battle resulting in a US victory. In Myanmar, formerly Burma, British and Japanese troops fought for the liberation of Burma, hoping to provide a path to help China in their struggle. US marines and ANZAC forces fought to liberate all from Japanese rule, Japan fighting hard. ANZAC, Indian, and American Marines were all focused on Japan, while Canadian, American, and British troops fought in Europe. It was anyone's war, both sides holding strongly. This picture was the raising of a US flag on Iwo Jima, the island had not been taken yet they had captured an important area. Iwo Jima was a very important battle, and after a final Banzai charge, proving ineffective, Japanese forces were whittled down. This would lead on to the battle of Okinawa, the final island before Japan. After Okinawa, Hiroshima and Nagasaki would be b0mbed, leading to the surrender of Japan.
