Lowest specification models came with an option of a 2.5 turbo diesel (also found in other Brandt cars of the era, and famed for it's high torque and power). It also came with an option of both 2.8 and 3.0 Inline 6 engines. Elite was the name of the base model, however it was still extremely well equipped for the time. Brandt aimed the Pavhia at bosses and CEOs, and included a smokers pack (cigarette lighter, ash trays etc) as standard to all models. Those who did not want this could option a replacement at the dealer free of charge - a Rolex Quartz clock face, in the centre of the dash where the cigarette lighter would originally have gone. These are known to break easily, and the batteries are charged from the altinator, so if a car is left for a long period of time it is very tricky to get the clock working again without removing it completely (where it can break easily as previously mentioned.) The Atheling (meaning Prince or Lord in Anglo-Saxon English) model was of a higher specification, and featured a Pavia chrome crest on the C pillar, which easily distinguishes the posher models. Whereas on the Elite the headlining was black or white cloth, the Atheling model trims it in the same material as the seats, most commonly tanned cream leather (Although black and grey leather were options too, as well as Madigascan cloth and Velour on early models). There were a few special edition Pavhia mk4s, most of which were just rebadged Athelings with two-tone ''Duetoni'' paint schemes and some interior tweaks and improvements. These were aimed at rich businessmen who wanted to show off both visually and with the increased comfort of these models. All special editions had the option of the later 3.0 I6 or the supercharged 4.6 V8. the 4.8 V8 was strictly for the GT and Sculleria models. Unlike the smaller cars, there was a GT along side the Sculleria Pavhia due to the fact that Brandt didn't want classy businessmen to be put off by the fun (but admittedly garish) orange paintwork. Both the GT and Sculleria have held their values well, being regarded as one of the best super saloons of the late 90s, however the Sculleria is by far rarer with only 150 produced worldwide (120 of which are still on the road). The Custard special edition was a bit of an odd choice by the Brandt sales team. You could expect many fun and funky special editions on the smaller Brandts like the Scoppio or Pulcan, but nobody expected it on the expensive and luxurious Pavhia when the Custard was released in 1999. Luckily only 5 were ever produced, only one of which is still known about (owned by a Dutch billionaire and well-known Brandt collector). Recently a replica has been made based on a 2.5 TD Elite although the Brandt forums were quick to point out that it wasn't a real one. ''Wow, this is fantastic! It's not a real one unfortunately but I love the effort that the owner has put in to make one of the grooviest special editions of all time again!'' one forum member called OpelZafira2004 posted. Many colour options were available, and none were trim-level specific except for of course the Sculleria. Dabloon Gold was a surprising hit. They didn't sell as many of the Pavhia as the smaller models, however the profit margin on these bigger cars was a lot better so it was overall a success for the company. Buyers should be aware that the early 3.0 models (pre '97) were known for headgasket failure at around 50k miles, with coolant leaking onto the ECU unit frying the engine (and causing a few fires). These were recalled by Brandt and all customers affected were offered a brand new Pavhia Executivo in duotoni Burgandream colour. -
