Here's a short story that happened when I'm designing pokémons: I originally planned on creating a pokemon Style RPG game on scratch, but I don't have the coding skills, so I decided to start with the designs first.I was like p4 at the time and I drew this.(project pic)But about 2 years later,Pokemon Scarlet&Violet was out.When I was showing my starter concept art to my classmate, he told me to watch the trailer, and I did.As it turns out, my Grass type Starter's design is way too similar to Sprigatito, the grass type starter for scarlet&violet.And guess what?My old project about this concept(Now deleted) added some new comments, basically all accusing my starter as a ripoff from Sprigatito. I mean, it's just a coincidence, since I designed the starters even before the first trailer was released.But, nintendo is a big game company, and I'm just a random teen drawing pokemons, so I had to change the starter's design. I just thought the story would be interesting, so I shared it on Scratch.
