Credit to , @draconis_drawers for helping me create yoker. Chapter 3 You're even more a whimp than I thought you were." "Bye-bye!" I said the next morning, part of me wishing that I could go and enjoy the lush beaches of Dalimil but mostly glad that I could get away from my adoptive parents and their torturing me. "I'll miss you very much." I continued sarcastically. "And I hope you find someone else to torture or you might actually be kind for a whole month, and you probably won't survive that long." Cameron, who apparently hadn't realized I was being sarcastic, said, "I'm sure we'll be able to torture our next-door neighbor, but thanks for worrying about us." Have I mentioned that Cameron has a super crooked nose? It doesn't even look like a nose. Also, he isn't very bright if you haven't noticed already, I doubt he can even spell his name correctly. I paid them my last happy goodbyes and started getting ready for school. ☆☆☆★★☆☆☆ "Ugh, does Malone have to be on my team?" Sneered a pale boy with blonde hair "Hahaha, good one, Calvin!" Two hulking brown haired brutes said in unison. "Shut up, you big oafs." Said Calvin."It wasn't even a joke, much less funny. I was just complaining that this miserable excuse for a yoker player was on my team." "Leave him alone shouted a scrawny, red-headed boy." "Please don't get into this mess." I pleaded, hoping that if I thought it hard enough, he would somehow hear me."Or I'll have to save both of our buts." The boy continued, " You'll be in big trouble if you don't!" " Whatcha gonna do?" Calvin sneered. "I-I-I'll, tell someone." He said, starting to lose his confidence. "Ha," Calvin sneered once again. You're even more a whimp than I thought you were." Suddenly, the boy brightened and pulled out what looked like a tiny, metal pinecone. " More like a major badass." He corrected. Calvin laughed, "You mean I'm supposed to be afraid of a pinecone?" The boy just grinned, set the pinecone thing down, and said, " Robo-vlog, activate." The robo-vlog, or whatever it was called, sprouted legs and beeped, but other than that remained motionless. Calvin snorted and said, " What's it going to do? Spin in circles?" "You'll see." He said. Students were beginning to gather. "Robo-vlog, attack, Calvin." It immediately responded. First, it sprouted something that looked like a helicopter chopper, then it took flight, buzzing like a bee. Calvin let out a little whimper. The look on his face was priceless. Then the Robo-vlog did something really strange it twisted and folded, made a strange sputtering sound, and then fell to the ground with a thud. Calvin laughed. "I can't believe you actually thought that I would be afraid of that old, rusty tin can." The boy looked crestfallen. I grabbed his hand and said, "Hurry, let's make a run for it." We ran until our lungs were burning, and we were sure that he wouldn't follow us. We sat and talked, waiting for practice to start. "Sorry I didn't introduce myself." I said. "Though I guess we didn't really have time for that stuff, You know, being picked on. My name is Malone, and you?" The boy let out a shaky sigh and said, " My name is Levin." "Nice to meet you." I said. "Anyway, why did you name your Robo-vlog, Robo-vlog?" "Well, it's part Velvet worm, part Lacewing, part Oriole, and part dog. He seemed to become more cheerful again. "Velvet worm, because they can shoot a powerful stream of slime that paralyzes it's prey, that's what went wrong, the slime was too thick so it wouldn't come out, I should be able to fix it in a couple of minutes when I get home." He continued. "But the Robo-vlog is so small. How will it cover a whole person in slime without running out?" "Easy." He said. "The robo-vlog is filled with a chemical. The robo-vlog sucks up air and then mixes a tiny amount of the chemical with the air and then shoots it out as slime. For every drop of chemical, there's about a gallon of slime. It can hold about a thousand drops so it c
an shoot about a thousand gallons of slime before needing to be refilled. Impressive, right?" "Dude!" I said. "There aren't words to describe how impressive this is. What do the other animals do?" "Nothing cool," he said. "The Lacewing is an insect, and I chose it because the robo-vlog looks a lot like one. The Oriole is a bird and since the robo-vlog can fly, I chose it. And finally, a dog because it will respond to almost any command." "Oh my goodness, this is the coolest thing I have ever seen." I said in awe. " But we'd better get going, or we'll be late for practice." ☆☆☆★★☆☆☆ As we walked back to the yoker quarters, Levin asked, " Can I ask you something?" I answered, "Of course, any time. What is it?" Well," he continued sheepishly. "I don't really know how to play yoker." I stared at him in disbelief." You don't know how to play yoker?" I echoed. "Nope." he said sadly. "Ok," I said. "Let's change that. First thing you need to know, don't touch the ball with your hands. You'll have a net to catch the ball. there's a button on the net. If you press that button, the contents of that net will shoot out of it. Notice how I said contents instead of ball. You can put other things in the net, not just a ball. Alright, now it's getting kind of intense. There are caches full of blinding powder hidden in secret places. If you put the powder in the net, point your net at someone, and press the button, they will be temporarily blinded. one more thing before we move on to scoring, there are these disks at the start of the game a machine spits five of them out and they slide too the other side of the quart and they bounce back moving a tiny bit faster each time they bounce. So, at the very end of the game, they're moving really fast. If someone gets hit by a disk, that player is out till the next player scores. Let's move on to scoring it's pretty easy to understand, but we'll go through it anyway. The ball is supersmall, and it can hover. my physics teacher explained how it worked, but I sort of forgot. I think it had something to do with electromagnetism, but I'm not sure anyway. If you catch the ball in your net and aim it just right, you can make it through the goal. Now let's talk about one more thing, the goal. The goal is a super small ring just small enough for the ball to fit through the ring. It is really bouncey. If you miss the ball, it will probably bounce all the way to the other end of the quart. both players are trying to get the ball in the same ring. The first team to get 30 points wins. Any questions?" Levin just stared at me in disbelief and said, "Nope." "Alright boys, let's start practice!" Said a loud booming voice.
