“Heron” is the name the scratcher, @-Heron-, decided to claim as his own. However, you will soon learn why “Heron” is a terrible choice and why “Birdie” should be switched ASAP. From why “Birdie” sounds nicer and more friendly to why “Heron” isn’t iconic nor trendy, this essay covers all grounds and undoubtedly proves that “Heron” is wrong on his name choice and should bow down to yours truly. A small disclaimer: throughout this essay, I will refer to “Heron” as “Maaaybe” to clear up the confusion between the two names. Many of Maaaybe’s flashy and interesting games catch the eye of newer scratchers. These games, while being entertaining to play, may intimidate these young scratchers when they see the person who made them. “Heron” is an extremely intimidating name and scares off many of Maaaybe’s potential viewers. A heron, being a large bird with long legs, a long neck and gray or white feathers may be a quite terrifying sight for one to imagine, especially with their strong wings and beak. A young scratcher might imagine a bird as fierce as this and think of Maaaybe the same way, which is incorrect, as Maaaybe is actually a kind and amazing human being. A good replacement for this false appellation would be “Birdie”, as “Birdie” refers to all types of birds and takes on a friendlier appearance. Switching to this name would allow Maaaybe’s viewers to make the correct assumptions about his kind and welcoming personality. Maaaybe, by using the name “Heron”, immediately lumps himself in with a simplistic nickname and all other herons out there. Because of this, the name “Heron” is not recognizable, nor is it memorable. In the eyes of the public, by using this nickname Maaaybe becomes another heron, and since herons are quite common in the US, the essence of Maaaybe’s creativity and kindness becomes lost in the endless sea of feathers and squawking. By using the name “Birdie”, Maaaybe would regain his originality and memorable fun spirit, and in turn, be recognized as a creative individual. Last but not least, “Heron” is a weak attempt at a trendy name. Many people, when making a username, try to make themselves seem “cool” or “hip” and it’s painfully obvious that Maaaybe is no different. Why else would he put the little dashes on the sides? If he needed a username that wasn’t taken, he should’ve just chosen a better (and more original one). For someone who operates on a kid's website and whose audience is mostly children, Maaaybe would benefit from a name change and see a growth in his game’s clicks and perhaps even end up on the trending page. The name “Birdie”, as well as being all that was mentioned above, is also a much trendier name and relates to children much more. People enjoy content and people they can relate to, so introducing this factor into Maaaybe’s content would allow him to get the attention he deserves. In conclusion, Maaaybe’s choice of “Heron” is utterly absurd and could be improved by appearing more friendly, original, and trendy. With this simple change of lettering, Maaaybe’s career could go from drowning in a lake in which he sits to up in the sky where he, and his undeniable kindness and talent, soars.
