It creeped Bella out so she decided to put it in her pocket and read it later to see who it was from. At the end of breakfast, everyone retreated back to their rooms, but Bella had a different idea. She walked down some corridors and into the cold air. One more turn and she was certain she would see Draco to surprise him with his present. But before she turned the corner she heard voices and she decided to listen and wait. "I don't even like her," a familiar voice said "I'm just using her to get into Jake's head" he laughed. "Bella is so gullible," said the other boy. Draco laughed "I know." She took a deep breath. What just happened? She took a step forward and turned the corner. "Good try Draco," she said "You can have your stupid present," she said pushing a neatly wrapped girt into his chest. He was too stunned to speak and she turned away and ran. Down, corridors, upstairs, downstairs. After a few minutes of running tears blurred her eyes too much. She wiped the tears away with her sleeve and sat down hugging her knees. "Bella?" a familiar, deep voice said behind her. Bella looked up and rubbed her, already irritated eyes so she could see. When she looked up she saw Peter with one of his friends that she recognized from some of her classes. Hammond, the friend, was tall and handsome with short, styled hair and a friendly smile. He was holding a rusty key that looked about 100 years old at least. What were they doing here? This place was more abandoned than the Dungeons. "What are you doing here?" she asked curiously, but her voice cracked at the end of her sentence. "Are you ok?" Peter said softly. He had avoided her question, why? She thought as she brushed another tear away. "you were right about Draco" she replied. "I told you he was a selfish ferret," Peter said trying to lighten the mood. Bella made out a laugh and smiled weakly at the boys. Suddenly, there was a crashing noise from behind a door, and Hammond and Peter gave each other a worried look. "What is going on?" Bella asked looking at them. "There's no time to explain," Hammond said grabbing Bella's hand and pulling Bella up the flights of stairs until they got into an empty corridor. Peter followed close behind trying to catch his breath. "what was that?" she asked waiting for her explanation. Peter opened his mouth as if he was about to speak. But noticed something behind Bella and shut his mouth. Bella turned to see what he was looking at.
