[~] Prologue [~] A boy, around eight years old, sat upon a wooden horse outside a mansion. The child's hair was white, and slightly slicked back, half of his hair over his face. He held the red amulet attached to his necklace close to his chest. He grumbled, saying, "I didn't even start it! It was all Dante's fault.. just because I'm the older brother!" He stomped his foot into the ground, gritting his teeth, as suddenly, earth below him rumbled. He looked at his foot, seemingly in awe, thinking, 'did I do that?' A small mound suddenly sprung from the ground, as a skull emerged. The boy fell off the wooden horse, screaming. As several demons crawled up from the ground, as a few turned to the mansion, opening their mouths, lighting it on fire. Meanwhile, in the mansion, a boy identical to the one outside sat down on a chair, a woman with blonde hair, presumably his mother, sat across from him, talking. Her head perked up, almost as if she could sense the burning, as the ceiling fell, spreading the blaze across the wooden flooring. The woman grabbed the boy, running through the house, hiding him in a closet, untouched by the flames. The boy yelled out, "mama! What's going on?!" The woman held the closet doors open, saying, "you need to hide, Dante, you mustn't leave! I need to find Vergil, I promise I'll be back. I know this is hard. You must listen to me. Be a big boy... a man, huh? If I don't return, you must run. By yourself, alone. You must change your name. Forget your past and start a new life as someone else. A new beginning." The woman closed the door, and ran off, yelling out, "Vergil!" Her cries for her other son were cut short, as Dante could hear the screams of pain from the closet. He knew she was gone. He held the red amulet attached to his necklace over his chest, tears streaming down his cheeks. Vergil was ambushed by skeletal demons, a sword going through his chest, keeping his belly on the ground. He screamed out, reaching his hand forward, a sword cutting through it, pinning it to the ground, as the swords were removed, Vergil was cut repeatedly. Tears streamed down his cheeks, as he reached out for help, he couldn't speak, but he thought of the one person who could save him, 'mother!' The amulet around his neck glowed a bright red, as he closed his eyes, trying to accept his death. A blade appeared in front of him, as he felt like he was transported to a void. A katana, the tip facing downwards, as a word pounded into his head, 'Yamato.' Vergil reached out for the katana, as his eyes shot open, he was suddenly filled with power, as he quickly got up, trailing the katana behind him as he spun, cutting the demons in half. A horde of demons surrounded Vergil, as he was swift to stab and slice through the demons, until there was nothing around him but demon dust. He turned, limping towards his burning house, "mother.. why didn't you save me? Mother..." Vergil stared at the burning house, as he turned, walking away, he was no longer limping, his demon blood healing him. He raised his head up, saying, "no... what I need is.. power!" He walked away from the burning house, placing the katana back into it's scabbard, as the wounds across his body healed up. The look in his eyes was different. It was no longer a look of childlike innocence, but a cold, demonlike one. There were no demons left in the mansion, Vergil had dealt with them all outside. Although they had no idea to know if the other died, the twins both wanted their mother.
