Delphi and Lexus boarded a boat, and rowed their way to the school. When the three got there, a woman with a tight bun was waiting for them. “Welcome to Hogwarts,” said the lady. “The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory, and spend free time in your house common room. “The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours. “The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting.” Lexus talked with some of the students for a few minutes. A few minutes later, Professor McGonagall came to get them. "Now, form a line,” Professor McGonagall told the first years, “and follow me.” The first years entered the Great Hall and were dazzled by the sight. Floating candles scattered the ceiling, and there were four large tables filled with students. Professor McGonagall now stepped forward holding a long roll of parchment. “When I call your name, you will put on the hat and sit on the stool to be sorted,” she said. A couple of kids were called, and then she heard the name "Damion, Eli!" Eli stepped up to the hat and placed it on his head, A few seconds passed and the hat bellowed "HUFFELPUFF!" The Hufflepuff table cheered loudly. A few more names were called, and she finally heard her name. "Lovegood, Alexius!" She went up to the hat and paced it on her head. "Hmm..." said the hat. "You have the ambition and pride of a Slytherin, but you have the bravery and determination of a Gryffindor. I wish I could put you in both, but I can only choose one. Tell me dear, which on do /you/ want?" Lexus thought for a moment and then whispered, "Whatever you choose." Lexus knew all Slytherins weren't bad, and Gryffindors were alright too. After a few minutes, the children in the Great Hall started whispering. This is the longest time that the Sorting Hat has taken to sort a student. Then the hat yelled "GRYFFINDOR!" Lexus's face broke out in a smile as the Gryffindor table applauded her. She looked over and the Ravenclaw table to see Luna and Lena. Lena looked happy while Luna looked disappointed. But Lexus didn't care.
