Click the green flag until upgrade buttons work and are not darkened. The upgrade buttons are on the bottom left. You can check if they are working by clicking on them and seeing if they tell you how much more money is needed. If one of the buttons does not respond to a click, click the green flag again. you must do this otherwise you will not be able to upgrade your ship. If the game glitches out, follow the steps above again. As long as you do not have the cat enabled, your progress should save. HOWEVER, your progress WILL be lost if you refresh the page or close the tab.
