Press space to see the real pictures of Uranus Voyager 2 took. The Voyager 2 was designed to take pictures and record data of long-distance planets. The thing that has been powering it for 40+ years is called an RTG. RTG is short for Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator. The Voyager uses a Photopolarimeter Subsystem (PPS) to take pictures. The Photopolarimeter Subsystem uses a 0.2 m telescope fitted with filters and polarization analyzers.
