꒰ ✧ 062╏❝ happy halloween! ❞ ✦ dtae ꒱ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀˚₊‧꒰ა ✧ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ ✦ ꒰ press space, click + hold to zoom in ꒱ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✧✧✧ heya !! happy early halloween and welcome to my dtae for bat dragon! :D i'm absolutely in love with peridot's design and had so many ideas for her character when i saw her! i'm also obsessed with fluffy dragons and characters with green palettes so i knew i had to enter >:3 press space to see the art process, you can also follow along by reading below if you like! ^v^ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀── ── ── ✦ ꒰ art process ꒱ ⒈ sketch layer: drawing out the basic sketch here! my sketches sometimes look more clean than other artists' sketches because i'm more used to traditional art and that requires a more clean sketch :') ig i did it on this too lol ⒉ flatcolour: colour it in! a good thing about my clean sketch is that i can go straight to flatcolour rather than doing 2 lineart layers (1 black and 1 coloured), though i usually have to adjust the colours here ^^" ⒊ lineart: this is one of my favourite steps because it just makes the art pop so much more !! by now i've adjusted the flatcolour to fit the lineart :D ⒋ shading: another part that i really like! it's subtle but i find that it adds a lot to the drawing :]] ⒌ background: yay background! i found this one on google, just a halloween background that i thought would look nice with the drawing ^-^ ⒍ shadow: this is an important part of making sure that it looks like she's really in the scene rather than just having been slapped onto the background, but the next step is a bit more important c: ⒎ tint: lol i wasn't sure what to call this step at first, but it's super important to sort of match her to the background like i said in step 6! ⒏ eye sparkle: a small detail that i added last minute, i just thought that it would be cute! ⒐ lighting: you might notice that i'm not quite an expert on this yet, but i tried my best and i think it turned out all right! :> ⒑ eye glow: another little detail that i decided to add since her eyes glow in the dark! ⒒ glitter: hehe it might be becoming more and more apparent that i love making my drawings super glittery >:3 ⒓ text: wasn't sure if i was going to add this or not but ended up going with it! i had to redo it a couple of times though since my handwriting isn't that great haha ⒔ sparkles: some heart-shaped sparkles to finish it off! <3 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀── ── ── ✦ ꒰ name ꒱ per·i·dot /ˈpɛɹ.ɪ.dəʊ/ ❝ a green semi-precious mineral, a variety of olivine. ❞ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀── ── ── ✦ ꒰ info ꒱ name ☾ peridot pronouns ☾ she/her age ☾ 13 nickname(s) ☾ peri, boo, candy, spikes birthday ☾ october 31 (decided) species ☾ bat dragon likes ☾ candy, nighttime, glow-in-the-dark things, flying, dressing up, jack-o'-lanterns, blanket forts, scary movies dislikes ☾ bright lights, hot days, fighting, deep water, mornings, sudoku, people who don't believe in ghosts ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀── ── ── ✦ ꒰ personality ꒱ 〔 + 〕adventurous, affectionate, spunky, playful, generous 〔 = 〕stubborn, carefree, daring, imaginative, artful 〔 - 〕fanciful, reckless, rowdy, frivolous, scatterbrained ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀── ── ── ✦ ꒰ trivia / notes ꒱ ▪ her favourite candy is candy corn ▪ she can't decide whether she likes trick-or-treating or giving out candy more so she often switches between the two on halloween night ▪ doesn't have a definite home, she loves adventuring and travels around a lot! she's always somewhere around the neighborhood during october preparing for halloween, though ▪ her eyes glow in the dark ▪ fangs!! ▪ isn't quite sure what species she is, she's never met any other bat dragons before but is nonetheless welcomed into any community no matter what due to her charisma! ▪ loves kids, most of her many nicknames came from the ones she's met over the years ▪ had to grow into her wings ▪ her name is pronounced "pear-eh-doh" (the "t" is silent), she hates it when people pronounce it as "pear-eh-dot" ▪ isn't sure as to where she got her name, she's just always been peridot since as early as she can remember ▪ though she has yet to learn this, bat dragons have a lifespan of approximately 1000 years ▪ doesn't remember her parents, her earliest memory is waking up under a full moon on halloween night. she wandered over to a nearby neighborhood and fell in love with the costumes, decorations and generosity, and has loved halloween ever since! peridot isn't sure whether or not this was her birthday or just a random night, but it was her first memory so she just decided it was her birthday. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀── ── ── ✦ ꒰ thanks! ꒱ tysm for considering my entry !! :> i had lots of fun making this and can't wait for halloween! best of luck to everyone that entered as well !! <3
