Hoorayyy yet another piece of writing. Enjoy! [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] Luna allowed me to take a day off after the events of.... yesterday. I sit on my rock-hard mattress, silent. Nothing enters my mind. I stare at my door as though I’m expecting a visitor, but I know nobody will come in. Everyone is busy learning stuff. My room includes a dresser and a bookshelf. Beside my bed is a large mirror. I walk over to it and look in. Usually, I take a quick glance to see my outfit, but now I examine myself from head to toe. My horns, wood-ish in colour with a slight curve near the end. I think they’re quite cute. I look into my eyes. My eyes are very peculiar. Black, with bright, colourful irises. When I blink, the colours change. Orange and pink, green and yellow, then nothing. I step back. How strange, I think to myself. My own irises have gone. Though I blink again, and they appear. I laugh, then look down at my tail. Shimmering green scales, dark spikes like those on a fairy-tale dragon. I find it genuinely nice to look at. My figure in the mirror smiles. I like myself. I feel comfortable in this body. The smile fades. Memories from yesterday flow into my consciousness. Do I feel comfortable? I feel the strange beast trying to escape. “No!” I exclaim, “This is my corps, you may not have it.” Though I thought these words were spoken to a terrifying monster, I’m only talking to myself. There isn’t some ‘thing’ inside me. It’s a power I have. I am my own person. The words are repeated in my mind until it’s the only thing I know. There’s nothing wrong with me. Therefore, I’m here. Standing in my room. Still in my pajamas. Oh. Maybe I could put a dress on. My lavender one is clean today. It’s my favourite. (please continue down there in the notes and credits)
I open my top dresser drawer to reveal some simple gowns. I spot my lavender dress right on the top of a pile. The dress is made of a smooth, silky fabric, and it fits me perfectly. There is only one imperfection to this piece of clothing; on the skirts is a small green patch. That is because a hole has worn through the fabric. I don’t know how it got there, but nevertheless; I love it. The second drawer holds many pairs of tights. Some patterned, some plain. Some colourful, some dull. I decided on a striped pair that compliments my top. All my clothes came with my room. I didn’t pick them, but if I had a choice, my wardrobe would be the same. It’s funny. Like my room knows me better than myself. I giggle at that thought. After slipping my clothes on, I tie my mousy brown hair up. I like leaving the bottom layer down, but if I leave all my hair loose, activities would be much more difficult. Then I grab my bag and fasten it around my waist. Then I flop on my bed. “Why did I get dressed again?” I say aloud, “There’s still an hour before lunch.” Instead of lying there forever, I draft a story. The protagonist is a young kid who – after a few dramatic events – must find a way to overcome the pain and help others. They make friends and have many adventures. Eventually the character feels full again. I hope to finish this story. My group will read it and tell me what they think. I hope it’s a creative idea. ....................................................... Eventually lunch time comes. I left the bedroom. Luckily, Luna said that I can go to the cafeteria for food. Plus, I can chat with my new friends! As soon as I got there I ran to our table. “365! How has your day been?” 441 greets me. I snicker, “Surprisingly boring. I outlined a story idea, however. I’ll give it to you later.” 50 passes me a plate. There’s some meat, and fruit slices. “Sorry.... The lunches are terrible. I suppose that’s what to expect from the staff in this place,” She glances over at the dark figures, dressed in grey and continuously scowling. They seem almost like guard dogs but standing and with less fur. I stuff my face. The taste isn’t the most delightful, however, I’m starving. Lunch at once fills me with energy. Others notice I’m in the lunchroom and stare at me. I suppose a giant beast covered in scales isn’t easily forgotten. I force myself to stay calm. They all just don’t know me yet, because I think I’m a good person. My friends must think so too, as they all have acted normally. Luckily, these stares end within a few minutes. Chatter rings in the air and everyone continues eating. I’ve started to notice how diverse students are here. There’s both hybrids and humans scattered around. We all look different, and act differently, too. “So,” I try to start a decent conversation, “Have I missed anything cool?” “Sure you did! We started to do math in one of the classrooms,” 50 grinned. “What’s cool about math? I’ve only learned how to add, and I already hate it,” 441 disagreed. “I guess it’s cool that there’s classrooms here, though.” 50 frowned at him in disappointment. She took a bite of her lunch before lecturing him on how it could be important to us in the future. Then my mind paused. “We don’t even know what our future is, 50...” I said blankly. “What?” “Well, the reason we’re all here is still a mystery,” I spaced out, “No-one is even allowed outside yet. Do you know what’s outside?” 360 cleared her throat, “I think it’s just a grass field fenced off from the outside. None of us can leave.” We stayed quiet for the rest of the period. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] Well then, that's chapter two. The writing and thumbnail are by me. Any questions about the story or any part of this book/chapter? Please ask :)
