♡Chapter One: By the Fireplace♡ Sixteen year old Cara Byrne was walking towards her small home. She lived in Dublin, Ireland with her family. As she got closer to the house, her little sister, Erin, came running out of the door. "Cara! Cara! Guess who is here!" "Who?" Cara said smiling. "Uncle Sean!" Erin exclaimed as she pulled Cara by the hand into the house. As they entered the door, Cara saw Uncle Sean sitting in a rocker by the fire. He was talking to Mr. Byrne, Cara's father, who was sitting on a wooden stool. Mrs. Byrne was at the stove stirring a pot that contained potatoes and carrots. Uncle Sean looked up and exclaimed, "hello, Cara! How goes my young niece?" "I am well, it is a surprise that you have come to visit us." Cara answered back with manners that her mum has been teaching her all her life. "Good, good. And I have come for some trading business, your mum and da have been very kind for allowing me to stay here for the time I am here." Cara smiled and went to go help her mother with the dinner preparations. "What took you so long, my daughter, to visit old Mrs. O'Leary." Mrs. Byrne asked Cara. "Mrs. O'Leary is much sicker than we have feared. I offered to do some of the cooking for her so she could rest." "You have done well, I am proud to have such a daughter as you." "Thank you Mum." Later after dinner was eaten and cleaned up, Mr. Byrne, Mrs. Byrne, Cara, Erin, and Uncle Sean were sitting by the fireplace talking. Uncle Sean was telling a story about the place he lived in. "You see, Rathlin Island is a very busy place, one can't travel from one building to the other without being overtaken in a conversation." When Uncle Sean finished his story it was time for Erin to be put to bed. So Mrs. Byrne got up and carried the sleepy toddler to the bedroom that Cara and Erin shared. But suddenly, the alarm bell rang loudly in the night.
