Twilight Princess then occurs, with the same Ganondorf still alive but now trapped in the Twilight Realm. With the help of Zant, he tries to take over Hyrule. Link successfully kills him and Midna returns to her world. After these events, then the Ganondorf of Four Swords Adventures is born, a reincarnation of the dead TP Ganon. The four Links successfully defeat him and Vaati, sealing that Ganondorf into the Four Sword forever. Many years after FSA, the era of myth from BOTW finally occurs. The Divine Beasts are built, and together with their pilots, a new Zelda, and an ancient hero, they seal the Calamity Ganon, which is not a new incarnation of Ganondorf but actually formed from the Malice leaking out from his sealed body beneath the castle. He is successfully sealed. Later, the king banishes the Sheikah and gets rid of their technology. Most settle in Kakariko Village, but some splinter off and become the Yiga. During the events before BOTW, the king re-excavates the Beasts and Zelda selects four new Champions. These Champions actually have Sage powers, so technically are Sages, but there is no need for them in this timeline to seal Ganondorf- instead, they play a supporting role. Link then draws the Master Sword, but when the Calamity arises from beneath the castle, he is severely injured and left to heal in the Shrine of Resurrection while Zelda holds Ganon in place. After 100 years, Link awakens, reclaims the corrupted Divine Beasts, and seals the Calamity with Zelda. Some time after the events of Breath of the Wild, Zelda and Link explore beneath the castle, looking for the source of the Gloom, which is leaking from the sealed Ganondorf. After all this time, Rauru’s seal has weakened to the point where the only thing left of him is his hand. As the two approach, the hand falls off, and Zelda picks up Rauru’s secret stone. Ganondorf awakens, and, remembering Rauru’s last words, recognizes Link. He shatters the Master Sword, raises Hyrule Castle, and the Upheaval occurs. In response to the evil arising, the sky islands lower closer to the ground. As Zelda falls and is transported back in time to Rauru, Link is pulled away to the Great Sky Island. Once he awakens, Link learns of his arm’s abilities, says farewell to Rauru, and sets off to Hyrule, where he awakens the new Sages. Back in the past, Zelda experiences the Imprisoning War, receives the Master Sword, and turns herself into a dragon to heal it. Beneath the castle, Link duels Ganondorf, but the Demon King consumes his secret stone and becomes a dragon, whisking Link into the sky. Zelda appears, and together, they destroy his secret stone, shattering his dragon form and killing him. With the last bits of their power, Link, Rauru and Sonia restore Zelda, and Link saves her from falling. Afterwards, Mineru leaves for the afterlife, and a new generation of Sages vows to protect Hyrule. So that’s it! The Zelda timeline so far, summed up! Even though Ganondorf is gone, it isn’t the end of Hyrule’s fight against evil. It’s been a considerable amount of time since our last male Gerudo, so it’s likely that another incarnation of him will be back.
