{Note: there is some text that is in a different language so for anyone who doesn’t speak the language the translation is in these -> [ ] brackets.} “Hope, are you sure this is a good idea?” “Do you have a better one?” “...No, which is weird because normally I do,” It was weird but that meant that it was even more important that we did this because the sooner we did this the sooner things could go back to normal. “but that doesn’t make it a /good/ idea sis.” “Well it’s this, or dealing with Spirit acting all emo all summer until school starts.” “Your idea it is.” “Good now let’s get going.” I started walking to town again thinking that this conversation was finished. “Hope,” Apparently it wasn’t. “Yes Fate my very annoying brother.” “Two things; one, you're just as annoying as me sis,and two, do you even know where to find them?” I stopped walking temporarily and froze in place, because well, I didn't exactly think the whole thing through. That’s why I brought Fate. Fate smiled smugly. “You're lucky I’m your brother.” “So do you know where to go?” “Yes, now follow /me/,” I rolled my eyes but followed him anyway. After all, my plan couldn't work without extra help. -☆ ~✧~ ☆- “And we’re here.” We were on the other side of the town and the house in front of us looked completely different from what I imagined. It looked normal and not like the patchwork mess that our house was but I guess most people wouldn’t move into a house that looked like it was haunted. “Are you sure?” Fate looked annoyed which is one of the reasons I even asked the question. “Yes I’m sure.” I went up to the front door and rang the doorbell hoping Fate was right and this was the right house. A couple seconds passed before the door was opened showing Amy in a green shirt, dark blue jeans, and bright pink socks covering her feet. “Hey Amy is your brother here? Also on a scale of one to ten how much do you guys like hiking?” Fate made a weird noise that sounded like he tried to laugh, cough, and snort all at the same time. “Umm? I’m not sure if Mike is here, and on a scale of one to ten? I would say seven for me and nine for Mike,” perfect, “why are you asking? Is there a group hiking trip happening?” “Something like that.” I said before Fate pushed out of the doorway and explained my plan to Amy. The smile on her face by the end of the explanation was a very weird mix between devious and innocent, but Fate was making the same face so I didn’t think much about it. “I’ll get Mike and bring him to the place, you two just focus on Spirit.” -☆ ~✧~ ☆- “Spirit, are you here?” Personally I thought that was a dumb question. Spirit has lately only ever left her room to go to the bathroom and get food. Oh and whenever Abuela Abari tells spirit to get out of her room and get some sun, which doesn’t really work because she just hides in the oak tree in the backyard. Anyway, Spirit was currently in her room which was darker than it normally is, which meant that if we closed the door, it would be pitch black. “Déjame estar sola para poder sufrir en mi miseria en paz,” [leave me alone so I can suffer in my misery in peace,] well, at least she is talking and not making random noises. Fate walked closer to Spirit’s bed until he was only a couple feet away from it. “Spirit, you need to get out of bed right now, because we set up a date with you and Mike!” Spirit shot up and got out of bed so fast I’m pretty sure she accidentally teleported “WHAT?! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!” “Because it gets you out of the house and if all goes well you won't be gloomy about going to that magic school because you're going with your boyfriend.” “If you want me to get out of my room, set it on fire or something, don’t set me up with someone I just met!” “Technically you guys met like a month ago, so, I’m pretty sure that this is ok.” “Yeah,” I said,” plus we don’t want to get grounded because we set the house on fire again.” “I’m still trying to figure out how you set the living room on fire with /nail polish/.” Fate said this to me and in my defense, I didn’t know nail polish was flammable, if I did, I would've been /way/ more careful. ____________________________________________
____________________________________________ “So, let's get this straight,” Spirit said slowly, “you two are setting me up with someone who I have only spoken with like twice because you want me to stop acting ‘gloomy’!” She said that we were asking her to sing the ‘I’m a Little Teapot’ song in front of the whole world just for fun. (Spirit has a really bad stage fright for some reason.) “Yup, oh and you kind of have to do this because we already told Mike to meet you at the hiking trail fifteen minutes from here so…” Spirit did this weird blank stare thing before shaking her head and asking at what time the ‘date’ was happening and then slammed the door. “The idea to tell her that it was a date was brilliant,” I whispered to Fate. He rolled his eyes and started walking to his room “Of course it was. It was my idea after all.” The door to Spirit's room opened very quickly and Spirit herself stepped out of it. “Hope, I need your help.” “Ok,” I had the strangest feeling that this wasn’t going to be very fun. -☆ ~✧~ ☆- It took lots of outfit changes, Spanish curses, and some really helpful pep talks from mom and Abuela Abari, but Spirit finally settled on her favorite brown hiking shoes, with dark jean shorts and a bright blue shirt with a green jacket. But I really hope that Spirit does not get an actual boyfriend for a couple of years because I really, /really/, don’t want to go through that again anytime soon. Also, I need to hang out with Amy more because Fate just laughed at me when I told him this. “Come on sis, it couldn’t have been /that/ bad!” “Well, it was /that/ bad,” I said for what I’m sure was the millionth time. I adjusted the green bandana Fate got me so that I covered all of my hair, so that Spirit won’t see it on the hike. After all, the orange color of my hair would be very noticeable. Spirit was still standing alone at the beginning of the path, because Mike hadn’t got here yet. Someone tapped my shoulder, and it was only the thought of what Spirit would do if she caught us that kept me from screaming at the top of my lungs. I turned around to see Amy sitting next to me with a smile on her face. Note to self-get /better/ friends, or at least ones that won’t sneak up on you. Mike walked in a couple of minutes after wearing black hiking boots, brown shorts, and a green long sleeve shirt. They started talking a bit while walking, getting close enough for me to hear them. “-nyway I’m really sorry all of this and I don’t know what lies my siblings told you but I am not looking for a boyfriend right no-” “Excuse me but did you say bo-boyfriend!? I thought this was a group hiking trip,” interrupted Mike with a very, very red face. The whole thing was actually kinda funny until Spirit stopped walking and had a very scary look on her face. You know that moment when you realize that you messed up really badly and start regretting the last 24 hours? Yeah, that’s what I felt like. I started climbing the nearest tree in hopes of escaping Spirit’s anger for a few more minutes. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Fate jump into some brushes and Amy hiding behind a tree stump making sure her pastel rainbow hair was covered by the beanie she was wearing. I got to the middle of the tree before stopping and looking down. I really wish I didn’t do that because Spirit was right next to the tree and had Fate in her grip. Fate looked like he was deciding which color his coffin should be and Spirit looked murderedess. “Hope, get out of the tree right now or I’m getting mom and telling her what you and Fate did on Valentine's Day!” Yeah no if mom found out what me and Fate did she’d ground us until the school year started. I jumped out of the tree and into the bush next to Spirit. I poked my head out of the bush and looked up at Spirit. “Hey sis, what are you doing here?” “Hope, leave the lying and acting innocent to Fate. We both know you're terrible at it.” Rude, true but rude. I looked around and Amy was standing next to a very angry looking Mike and looked like she was starting to regret helping me and Fate. “So on a scale of one to ten how much trouble are we in?” Fate asked nervously. “That’s for mom to decide.” Oh, lots of trouble then. “Told you this wasn’t a good idea.” “Yeah, yeah I know. Save your ‘I told you so’s for later ok?” ____________________________________________ -Notes- This was supposed to be a short, funny, transition chapter. why did it take two months to write?!?! Also, I love for shadowing. Don’t you? (edit): there was a plot hole; it is now fixed. Summary: Hope is plotting and Fate doesn’t like it. Amy joined because she likes plotting.
