This was originally a remix of a question project someone had, not sure what happened to them. Q: What inch foam is the priority for heads? A: I recommend multiple, personally: 2-inch for the snout and cheeks (you’ll want to have more than one layer of foam for both of these, even if it’s 2-inch), and 1/2-inch for the other parts, like if you’re doing a buckethead base, you’ll want thinner foam for that. Q: How do I make sure the fur fits on the head after using duct tape to map it out? A: Well, I’m not sure if you know this, but the way to make a pattern is by cutting the duct tape off. Once it’s off, you might wanna put it on some paper to remove the stickyness, or not, your choice. Once you have your pattern, you’ll trace it onto the fur and cut it out (remembering to leave ✧ seam allowance ✧), then puzzle and sew the pieces together before gluing it to the head. If this all is done right, it’ll be a perfect fit!! Q: Do I need foam to make paws? A: It depends on the method you want to use. My personal favourite is the pattern by RunnerRabbit. It’s free to print, easy to use, A N D there’s a video tutorial. I can give you a link, if you want it. Some other paw methods do take foam though. Q: What’s the better option for pawpads, EX. Minky? A: It my experience, fleece is not the best if you’re going to be wearing them a lot. I have a pair of paws I made sometime last year (using RunnerRabbit’s pattern. Again, I highly recommend) that I wear a ton, and I used ‘anti-pill’ fleece, but it’s still managed to start to pill up over time. Long story short, I think minky would probably be your best bet. There are other fabrics, but I’ve heard (I believe only) good things about using minky. Q: If I do decide to make a fursuit, could you send me the exact name of the cheapest yet best quality items for building from amazoooon? A: I’m gonna say no to this one, sorry. Everything depends on the type of suit, size, fur colours, etc. that you’ll be doing, to Imma let you do that part :P Q: How do I make kemono or following eyes? A: there’re lotsa tutorials on youtube for both of ‘em! Q: What is the best stitch to use on fur? A: I don’t think there really is a ‘best’ one, per se, it just has to be a secure one. For easyness’ sake, I recommend the blanket stitch. Q: How do I make a fursona look less cluttered and keep it to a bare minimum? Should I have full body, back, front, paws, and headshot? A: I assume you mean for a ref sheet? If you want it to be *bare* minimum, you could just do front, back, left side, right side (or if it’s symmetrical, one side will be fine). As long as it’s drawn cleanly enough, something this simple will do!! If you have aaaaaaaaany other questions, or if my answers don’t make sense, PLEASE don’t hesitate to tell me. I wanna be as helpful as I can.
