[ Continued from here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/911682628/ ] When Buttercuprain was about 32-33 moons, he at last arrived back at RiverClan. Upon arriving, the loner quietly left, sensing that they were out of place there. Finding Thrashercloud, Buttercuprain explained the ways in which he had continued learning during his absence and what had occured, and so his medicine cat ceremony took place, at which he was given the name “Buttercuprain.” Besides his new name, things had changed quite a bit since he was last with his clan; his siblings had recieved warrior names, and one of them (Hopchirrup) had left the clan to join WindClan. Arisingdawn and Hopchirrup, two of his siblings, were both in relationships. Even more significantly, his mentor Clearflight had died, as had his grandmothers, Spruceberry and Dewumbra. Overwhelmed by this, and realizing he hadn’t properly thanked the or said goodbye to the loner who had helped him, he— admittedly not learning from his mistakes very well— set out again to find the loner, hoping they hadn’t gone too far. Unfortunately, he was yet again unsuccessful in finding the one he sought, and wandered for around 17 more moons (taking us to his current age) before at last giving up, unable to give see the loner once more. This time, he’d at least had the sense not to stray too far from clan territories, but did end up lost inside of them. The wandering adventurer of RiverClan, Paradisepaw, found and rescued him, bringing him back to his home— to stay this time. There, he learned that he was now an uncle of Arisingdawn’s kits, and that his siblings Hopchirrup and Tulipbane had died. This brings us to where we would be now should this plan be acceptable to actually use irp, with him having just returned to RiverClan and still processing all that had changed in his absence. ────〖Overall Reasons〗──── In this section, I’ll summarize some reasons for Buttercuprain to have left the clans during the 36 moons of my inactivity. 〈Shortsightedness〉Buttercuprain is very shortsighted, rarely considering the future beyond the next few days. As stated in his personality description, “Brief thoughts of the future are quickly silenced by the decision to focus on the present, and the small details within it. He is content with things as they are, and has no wish to think of what may lay after it.” Therefore, he might not stop to consider the consequences of leaving to find Wasppoppy, nor the unlikelihood of success. Instead, he would be more likely to focus on the present— that his father had just ran from the clans and that he wanted to find him. This could occur later on as well, when he decided to search for the hospitable loner; he would be more likely to focus on the present fact that the loner had left without a chance to say goodbye or thank you. 〈Patience & Optimism〉Along with his shortsightedness, his everlasting optimism might be enough to convince him that he /could/ find Wasppoppy with enough time. According to his personality description, “ He believes that everything will work out on its own in the end, as long as one has enough patience to wait. Hope is never hard to find in the mind of Buttercuprain.” Additionally, his patience could help him to continue on for so many moons despite his lack of success. According to his description, “Patience comes very easily to Buttercuprain, and he will wait for a rather long amount of time for something to get done…. This can sometimes be taken to the extreme if he finds himself focusing on something particularly interesting [or important].” 〈Family & Clinginess〉Buttercuprain is a very family-motivated individual. According to Buttercuprain’s personality description, “Family is more important to him than almost anything— he wishes to have the closest bonds he can with his siblings and his parents. He is rather clingy in this way; at the slightest hint that one of them might be angry with him, he rushes to please them. Any sign of distance from his family, either physical or otherwise, is very significant to him. His friends are also important to him in this way, but not nearly as much as his kin.” Therefore, Wasppoppy’s physical distance, combined with the fact that he had never been very close with his father before that, is an extremely strong motivator to lead him to search for Wasppoppy. >>
<< 〈Emotion & Passion〉As stated in Buttercuprain’s personality description, “Buttercuprain’s emotional nature is rather noticeable for those who spend any time with him. It doesn’t take much for his face to light up with excitement, but it’s just as easy for him to become quite sad, or outburst in anger unexpectedly. In a similar way, he is rather passionate. He feels very strongly about his views, but is rather reluctant to speak of them if he thinks those he tells won’t agree…. It is difficult to change his mind on this sort of thing without a good reason, whether he admits that he isn’t convinced to you or not.” Buttercuprain’s emotional nature could easily cause him to overreact a bit at his father’s disappearance, causing him to start searching for him. Furthermore, his passion about finding Wasppoppy could help him to continue even when it seems unreasonable to do so. 〈Considerate〉Buttercuprain “is considerate and benevolent, caring very much for the emotions and troubles of those around him. If there is something Buttercuprain can do to help, he is very likely to do it— he does everything he can to please others and make them happy, and often seems to care more for others’ well-being than his own, generously giving up what he has for their benefit.” Therefore, he might believe that he would be helping Wasppoppy by finding him, despite the fact that he chose to leave on his own and likely didn’t want to return. Even if that wasn’t true, he could believe that his quest to find his father might help his saddened family by 〈Forgetful, Timid, Unconfident, & Indecisive〉Although his indecisiveness might be a reason for him to /not/ decide to find Wasppoppy, it could easily also lead him to slow the process once he did leave. Each turn, each decision of where to go, would likely be a challenge for him, slowing him down in his travels. Similarly, although his timidness and lack of confidence might make it difficult for him to get the courage to leave, once he did leave it would make it more difficult for him to swiftly continue through potentially dangerous paths. Furthermore, his forgetfulness could do the same, causing him to become lost and unsure of where he had come from, making it take longer to find his way back even if he wanted to give up on searching. Many of these personality traits that could dissuade him from leaving could be overpowered by his strong clinginess to his family, described previously. 〈Perceptiveness & Training〉The rigorous training Buttercuprain received from Clearflight before leaving, combined with his perceptiveness and ability to notice small but sometimes important details, could help him to survive. His dependence on others would make the journey difficult, but still possible. Clearflight taught him thoroughly in several skills including healing; building dens; understanding plants, animals, and harmful substances; swimming; disaster survival; intimidation tactics and personal safety; poison knowledge; fighting and self-defense; identification of vulnerable spots; the dangers of beyond the clans; hunting; survival skills; and tolerance to pain and discomfort. His training ended in the exact moon in which he left, so he would have been taught all of this before leaving (according to Clearflight’s training guide, there were 7 moons of training, and he became an apprentice at 7 moons— so he’d be 14 moons by the time he finished, which is also the age he was when Wasppoppy left). All of these skills taught to him could greatly aid him in surviving despite his personality disadvantages.
