The rules are also in the project if you want a more detailed explanation. To win, remove all of your cards from your hand before the round finishes. When the round finishes, you lose points if you still have cards, and gain points if you win. To move through your stack, click the left and right arrows (< and >) to flip through your deck. Once you've found a card you want to play, click the card to play it. If you play a card and the last played one loses against yours, you gain a bonus. Bonuses are invisible stackable modifiers that can help you gain more points. You get extra cards if you play a card that matches the last played one (e.g., Espeon played on Espeon). (Remember, your goal is to lose all of your cards, so this is bad!) The last-played card is the card that was played last in the round. This is not limited to you and will update any time anyone plays any card. This is why more points are given for rounds with more players. The “bad card” changes more often, and so it’s harder to win. Each round is a live event that lasts a minute. Rounds are on 24/7, with no breaks in between. Anyone can join a round at any time, even in the middle of the round. However, there is one exception: in the final three seconds of a round, the round is closed, and nobody can join. They can, however, still join the next one. The “Prejoin” button lets you automatically join the next round as soon as it starts! It’s very helpful when you’re catching the last few seconds of a round and you want to skip it but join the next one, or if you want to start a round with the maximum possible time limit. To cancel the prejoin, just click the button again.
I am aware that sometimes, you might win but not get any points for it. This is NOT a bug. If you didn’t get any points, it’s because you were the only person participating in that round. To check if someone else is participating, just check the “Playing this round” counter at the top. If it is more than 1, then anyone who wins the round will gain points. (If you did not get points for winning but there were more people in the match, this is a bug! Please tell me about it!) Your score does not determine who you get matched up with. Joining a round means you’ll be playing with everyone else in that round. Here’s the thing. I know that most likely, this game will completely flop. The fact that there needs to be other people online at the same time as you for you to make progress means that there will likely be very little opportunity to gain points. However, you could try playing this with someone else in your area if there’s nobody online at the moment. If you do by chance see someone else playing (the “Playing” counter is at 1 or more without you playing), then try to join! This will turn the round into one eligible for point gain and loss and make it much more fun for both of you! I might add a “backup” feature to help you keep your score, and maybe even a high score tracker that showcases the highest score ever achieved. The problem is that with only one variable that needs to be kept track of, the code could easily be reverse-engineered to give you any amount of points. If I would add this, it would have to be without a high score indicator. This is my first completely online game, as well as my first completely online project. I have used cloud variables in the past for projects like The Eeveelution Event, but they were always for little things that didn't contribute to the main experience that much, such as a counter that showed how many people ran the project, or a counter showing how many points everyone collectively gained. This is my first completely online game, so getting someone else to play it with you is strongly recommended. While you can play it with nobody else to play with you, you cannot get points through normal means, and it's honestly a lot less fun without others trying to win as well. The first round began at 6:21 PM on October 22, 2023.
