Fizz. The stovetop crackled as Tobias flipped the steak over, stomach rumbling. As he hummed a familiar tune, adjusted his overalls and flicked the browny-blonde locks out of his face, something caught his turquoise eyes. A red flashing dot. KABOOM. Suddenly a fiery cloud of smoke enfolded the room. Cooking supplies flew off the shelves, a large pan knocking him on the head. Tobias fell unconscious. The boy awoke in a pale white room that was buzzing with commotion. Jeers of anger and confusion flooded his aching head. His face burned and his eye… wait. HIS EYE WAS GONE. With horror, Tobias looked at a jar placed on a stool next to his hospital bed. A slimy sphere bobbed up and down, blood seeping from it like a river. Now in shock, the boy poked at the empty socket, trailing his burnt fingers around the harsh damaged skin. Tobias screamed with not only fear but also undistinguishable anger. “Whichever lowlife did this to me will pay.” He seethed. Tobias didn’t sleep that night. He was too busy tinkering away, sparks flying at his face that he had shielded with protective goggles and a metal mask. Luckily it all paid off, for when he was finished all trace of sleepiness was gone, a burning flame of excitement and revenge settling deep into his heart. Shining, the invention sat on his desk, it’s water-powered machine whirring, and the gun making a satisfying click. The boy strapped it on, determined to defeat the robbers that intruded on his cooking and BLEW OFF HIS EYE. The boy stepped into the burning light and sickly smell of smoke, presenting the invention proudly. He jolted to the mayor’s lair, buzzing with excitement. Tobias was greeted by a tall man who refused to let him see the mayor. “Of course.” Tobias thought, “Why would they let a random stranger meet up with the mayor?” He slapped his face, dragging his fingers across the scarred skin. “I guess I’ll have to prove my worth to them.” And with that, the boy stepped out of the garden. Suddenly, red and blue lights flashed and an alarm sounded. The police. A crime. Tobias grinned, gripping the holster of the hydro-gun. His first mission. The boy rushed towards the crime scene, immediately spotting what the police didn’t. “A bomb,” his eyes widened in terror, “THERE’S A BOMB!” Skidding, he slid into a hiding spot and watched as the museum implode. With fury, Tobias saw the criminals that had caused this mess. Instinctively, he pulled the gun trigger, shooting a torpedo of water that hit them smack bang in the face. Startled, the robbers started to choke. The water turned to ice in a matter of seconds, sealing the evil-doers in a cold cage. Police scrambled to cuff them, thanking Tobias and offering a meeting with the Mayor to discuss. He agreed. Soon after it was decided that unlike before, everything would be hydro powered to avoid further nuke incidents and accidents.
