the first MBR #4 was a leased New Haven railroad 44 tonner #0817 which was leased during 1947-1948 after #0817 was sent back to the New Haven #4 was bought from GE. At first #4 was relegated to the North end of the line due to weight restrictions on the southern section of the railroad. In 1956 after line upgrades were completed #4 and the brand new #5 were allowed to run all trains on the line and the last steam locomotives were retired. In 1961 #4 and #5 were damaged when the original roundhouse caught fire, so another New Haven diesel was borrowed while repairs were carried out. Unfortunately #5 was damaged beyond repair and after was used as a parts source for #4. In 1971 #4 would be joined by (ex B&M 110). and have been serving faithfully all the way up to today
