INTERPHASE: The cell takes most of its life in interphase, where it prepares to duplicate its DNA. PROPHASE: The cell duplicates its DNA, including the yellow centrioles, and the condensed chromosomes (red and blue). The nuclear membrane disappears, too. METAPHASE: The centrioles use their spindle fibers to bring the chromosomes to the middle ANAPHASE: The chromosomes split into daughter chromosomes and are pulled to opposite sides of the cell. TELOPHASE/CYTOKINESIS: Two nuclear membranes appear around the chromosomes and the cell splits into 2 daughter cells.
