<Prologue> Colonialism in Africa | CCH Academic Portal In the south of the African continent, colonization focused on the possession of land and not so much on commercial activity with the natives. Convinced of European superiority, the settlers took over the best lands and displaced the former inhabitants to less productive spaces. The Battle : The Battle of Rorke's Drift was one of the engagements of the Anglo-Zulu War. In it, just 150 British soldiers successfully defended a mission station located next to a ford of the Buffalo River, in the province of Natal (South Africa), against the attack of more than 3,000 Zulu warriors on January 22 and 23, 1879. This engagement occurred just hours after the British defeat at the Battle of Isandhlwana.
