If you are wondering what a "Plague Doctor" is, prepare to be educated! In the 1300s, the united kingdom had a terrible disease spreading rapidly. It was known as "The Black Death", "The great Plague", or "The bubonic plague". Graveyards were filling rapidly, and the towns had to resort to digging massive pits and throwing the dead in them. Thus, the plague doctor was born. They wore a thick trench coat, with leather gloves, and a creepy beaked mask. It was shaped like this because it was thought to keep out the so-called "Bad Smells". They thought the disease was in the air, but it was carried by fleas that nested on infected rats. The plague doctors coated themselves in wax thinking that the disease would not stick to them, but instead, it kept fleas from nesting on them!
