A new release from Pollux Software is - very slowly - in development and will hopefully be finished within the century. See the development hub project (on my profile) for more details. -- Original description -- Welcome to PolluxOS, my first all new Scratch OS in over 4 years. Built from a completely new base, and with vector designs made using separate software for the first time, this new system is without a doubt the Scratch project I've spent the most development time on. Alongside the major changes, including a uniform brand style and slightly more complex coding, PolluxOS also sees the reintroduction of two features from my past two OSes - a browser and an assistant. This time, however, they're fully functional. The goal for PolluxOS going forward is *not* to build the 'best' or most popular OS line. I instead want to focus on including refined functionality, not having constant feature updates. I want to include features that work, not ones that are disabled to prevent the project from crashing. I would like to see PolluxOS as a system that people can return to because it 'just works' - one that favours functionality and a streamlined feature set over getting an arbitrary "Best OS in Scratch" rating. I still hope that people expecting fancy animations or sounds aren't too disappointed by the features that I *have* added. I'm quite pleased with what I've made for what is my first all new Scratch OS (and project overall) in a long while. I hope you'll be happy with it too. In most cases, this project will work normally on Scratch. If this doesn't work for you, try Turbo Mode (shift + green flag). Alternatively, run the project in TurboWarp: https://turbowarp.org/914050783 The PolluxOS project is entirely made by me, excluding the following components: - Sounds for Expedition Assistant (edited versions of Scratch sounds) - Most icons except eBrowse (edited Iconduck images) There's not a lot of 'groundbreaking' functionality in here currently, but changes will (likely) arrive little by little over time. Please feel free to leave any feedback in the comments, as well as report any bugs that you encounter. Changelogs from V1.5 onwards: 16.11.2024 - 2411 Major update to PolluxOS. I'm not dead yeeeet. - There is now a basic animation during boot - Recoloured Wallpaper 1 - The original dark blue colour palette has been changed to a lighter blue. Initially this applies to app icons but maybe there'll be further changes down the line. - New PolluxOS website in eBrowse - SearchThatFact! is now SearchThat - Clock has been *slightly* changed, a proper clock implementation might come at some stage - Pollux News changes to reflect current work on a new version. Still tight-lipped because honestly it's very much work in progress - New command in Expedition related to the current LLM hype wave (because it really is just hype). For this reason the original sprite for the expedition search box has been removed 22.08.2025 - 2411.1 - Small thumbnail tweak to work with Scratch thumbnail changes - Fixed word choice error on Expedition Help page, among other updates - PolluxOS News now points to Next development hub - Settings year update -- Tags (can be ignored)
