Hello, all. It's @Historical_Women. No nicknames are good for that... Hissy? No... Anyway, I'm a teen girl trying to spread awareness and knowledge about the mythological and real women of history, who left marks on this world. If my information is wrong, I wish to be notified. If you have requests for women of history you'd like me to do projects on, please contact me on my profile. Q&A Q: Why are you doing this? A: These amazing women deserve recognition, and people deserve to know about them and their lives. Also, history fascinates me, and this is partly for fun. Q: Why just women? Isn't that sexist? A: Men get more attention in history. Henry VIII overshadows his wives; Hamilton drowns out the Schuyler Sisters; even in mythology, there is a lot of unfairness. So on my account, the women of history are the stars to make up for the prejudice in past historians and in their lives. No, it is not sexist; it is a calculated choice. It doesn't mean I dislike men or value male historic figures any less. It simply means they are not my focus here for my personal reasons. Q: Do you ever make projects about anything else? A: No, but I do make special Holiday editions. Q: Is your information wrong a lot? A: Honestly? Yes. Everyone's is. This is history, decomposed by time and with many contradicting sources. As hard as I try to find trustworthy sources, I often have no choice but to choose the more credible one- so there is always a chance I am wrong, or that my source is. Q: Should I follow you? A: Honestly, I don't care about follower count. If you do, that would be cool. But I'd rather you just review my projects, tell me how I can improve and what you liked, and ask questions about historic women I can answer. But if you follow me, thank you, it's appreciated. Q: Do you write about non-binary or trans people? A: If they identify as she/her, yes. Woman = woman. She/her = woman. I do history, not math, but it's very simple. But just because a non-binary person isn't a man doesn't mean it's ok to (indirectly) call THEM a woman. I have no intention of doing so. Q: Was _ you wrote about good or bad? Are your historic views moral? A: I base my opinion off of the evidence and information I find. I can't say who was good or not unless I have a concrete basis- ex: Catherine of Aragon vs Henry VIII- but I can say what I think. I'm not insinuating this is the only thing to think. But I like to believe my opinions are very much moral. Q: Do you write about just people or other stuff? A: I also write about woman-related things from history- ex: how tactics to cope with periods have changed over the years; what it was like to give birth in the Middle Ages; women's fashion throughout history; women's beauty standards as they develop. Not just people. Q: Do you MENTION men? A: Of course. I just don't make videos about them in particular. Q: Are all the women you write about heroes? A: No. Some were bad people, some good. I try to keep a neutral tone in most of my projects... but when I mention someone noticeably awful, like Henry VIII, or someone noticeably good, like Catherine of Aragon, I point his out to showcase my own opinion. I'd rather not have you all think I'm ok with Henry's actions or condone them, as an example of why. Q: Are all the women you write about real? A: No. As I've said, some are from myths and folktales. Good example: The Greek goddess Hera. Bad example: Disney princess Moana. Q: Should I believe in everything you say? A: No. Listen to me and take what knowledge you will, and if you choose to, carry on, do your own equally thorough research, and draw your own conclusions. Everyone has different views of history. I'd love to hear yours. A fan is nice, but a historian is better to chat with! Q: Why do you like history? A: Why not? Oh, and a bit of info about me: Zodiac: Leo Age: between 12-16, you can take your guess Gender: female, she/her (duh) Favorite Holiday: Halloween Favorite Quote: "Sorry not sorry 'bout what I said, I'm just tryna have some fun"- Anne Boleyn (Six) Thank you! If you'd read this far, comment your favorite historic figure, man, woman, or neither!
Credit to Google for the 2 gifs and the images. Credit to the sources I listed for, well, the sources and the information the project contains. The song, Prom Queen, isn't mine; though I sped it up a lot. It's a tribute to Queen Katheryn Howard, who I thought it fits well.
