“Mum! C’mon! We gotta get to practice!” I told my mum as I stood near the doorway of the house in my cheer uniform for my new school. Hi, I’m Alana Worth. I just moved here from London, and am already enrolled in my new school’s cheer team. Tryouts are today, and I CANNOT be late. “Mum!” I shouted again. “I’m coming, I’m coming!” she insisted, grabbing her purse off of the table next to the door. I was already out of the house and in the car. After a while of waiting, my mum finally got out of the house and got into the car. As she started driving off, I stared out the window, looking for anything interesting to focus on. When we finally arrived at my new school and cheer tryouts, I got out of the car and waved my mum goodbye. I began to run into the school. When I got in, I immediately noticed all the differences between American schools and British schools. There were a few signs that read “cheer tryouts this way!” and an arrow pointing down hallways. I followed the signs all the way until I got to a large gymnasium. “Hi! Is this where cheer tryouts are?” I asked a lady who seemed like a teacher and was standing in the gym with a clipboard. “Oh yes! Name?” she replied, turning my way with a cheerful smile. “Alana, Alana Worth,” I told her, responding with a smile not as wide. “Alright! Right over there in the bright pink shirt is River Archer, and she’s seated next to her sister Emara. You can sit next to them,” the lady told me. “Oh, and I’m Sarah.” I walked off with a wave, and looked for a bright pink shirt. My eyes gazed around the wide gym for a few minutes until a bright shirt came into my field of vision. I started to walk towards the girls, and sat down next to them when I reached where they were seated. “Hi! I’m Lana!” I said to them, my eyes beaming with joy. “Hi Lana! I’m River and this is my sister Emara, but she goes by Em! We’re triplets,” River told me with a slight snicker towards the end. “Triplets? But there’s only-” I started, confused by the situation. “Yeah, our other sister Elliot isn’t much of a cheer girl. She’s in basketball though,” Em explained to me. Besides how Elliot looked, River and Em were identical, both with dirty blonde hair (though River’s was much longer than Em’s) and bright blue eyes, so I assumed Elliot looked similar. “You new here?” Em asked as she leaned forward past her sister to see me. “Yeah, I just moved last month from London,” I told her. “Wow, that’s far!” River said with joy. “Have you ever done cheer before?” River then asked. “Erm yeah, my cheer team in London won first place in all of Europe,” I told her, trying not to seem like I’m bragging. “Oh, that’s cool!” River replied with a wide grin on her face. “So, what should I know about Lanchester High?” I asked River and Em. “Well, there are a few people to worry about…” River started. “Alana Worth?” Sarah called as she looked up from her clipboard. “Oh, that’s me. Be right back!” I told River and Em as I got up and walked over to Sarah. It was my turn to try out.
