✿ Hey everyone! Welcome to my first Zelda "What If" project! I've decided to start a little series where I rewrite and reimagine events that occurred in the Zelda series, but if something else had happened instead. This is the first of my series, and it's a little hastily written...I'm not posting my draconification thing today because it's proving to be a pretty long script. I got inspired to make this What If when I was rewatching some of the TOTK memories. I realized, that if Zelda had been a bit quicker, she might have been able to save Sonia... Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy Part One of the first episode! **✿❀ What If Zelda Saved Sonia's Life? ❀✿** ✿ Part One For a moment, the room was still. Zelda stared in horror, unable to move, as Queen Sonia crumpled to the ground at her feet. The queen's long blond hair streamed out behind her as she fell to the floor, unmoving. Zelda rushed to her side, shaking her frantically. No! She can't be dead! As she bent over the queen, trying desperately to wake her, Ganondorf's cackle filled the room. It reverberated around the silent space, completely deranged and filled with Malice. How had she not seen this coming? She should've known - the phantom had been but a diversion, a distraction from the true threat. As she and Sonia had stood there, assuming that Ganondorf's attempt on her life was over, he'd appeared behind them, and...and... The queen couldn't be dead! It was impossible...Zelda shook her again, tears filling her eyes as she bent over Sonia. "Wake up! You have to!" In her heart, she knew it was no use. How had she been so careless? This was all her fault. She had come to this time, and for what? What was her purpose? What had she done? She couldn't save Sonia...she couldn't save anybody. It was over. A cold breeze filled the room as Ganondorf stepped back, his attention already on the gem he held clasped in his fist, taken from the fallen queen. It was clear that Sonia was an irrelevance - just something in the way. Zelda's heart burned with anger and fear, as she glanced up, desperately searching for some way to help the queen. He didn't even care what he'd done, or show any regret. Now that he had her stone... Her stone... Zelda glanced down at her neck, where her secret stone lay, subtly shimmering. Pulses of faint gold and white drifted through the gemstone, and the symbol for Time - her element - shone brightly even in the dim light. Suddenly, like a bolt of lightning, an idea shot through Zelda's head. A face, that of Mineru, the Zonai inventor, flashed into view, its words, words she had heard before, echoing through her mind. "To swallow a secret stone is to become an immortal dragon...one blessed with eternal life." Eternal life... A dark hum filled the air, and Zelda glanced up frantically, pulling herself out of her thoughts. Ganondorf was standing on the balcony, holding Sonia's stone up to the light. Dark flashes of purple and gray already were shooting through the once-vibrant stone, its power coming under the control of its new master. It was now or never. The crazy idea that had jumped into Zelda's brain...it was her only chance. Her only hope. If she didn't do anything...Sonia wasn't dead yet. This was their last shot, and the only thing she could possibly do. Without even thinking about it, Zelda reached for her necklace, tore her stone from it, and pushed it into Sonia's mouth, making sure she swallowed it. For the second time that day, everything stopped. Ganondorf whirled around, somehow sensing what had happened. His eyes flickered back and forth, settling on Zelda and the queen, and then widening as he noticed her missing stone. "You didn't-" Zelda stared at him, fear flooding her. What had she done? What had she been thinking? Had she just wasted her secret stone for nothing? Was Sonia past the point of saving. "How DARE you!" Ganondorf hissed, lunging towards her and scooping up the scimitar that had fallen to the floor. "I should've known you'd try this!" He stalked towards her, holding the blade aloft. "Well...no matter. She's gone, and you've just wasted your only chance. How pathetic. You're just like Rauru himself...hopelessly optimistic." Zelda couldn't move. All she could do was sit there, staring in fear. She held Sonia's hand tightly. Ganondorf was right. There was no hope of escape. Her plan hadn't worked, and- Without warning, a blast of light exploded from Sonia's body. Ganondorf froze where he was, his eyes widening, as a sphere of light exploded outwards from the fallen queen. The blast knocked him backwards, the secret stone tumbling from his grasp. He flew across the room and hit a stone pillar, crumbling to the floor. Zelda scrambled backwards out of the blast radius, desperately trying to fight her way through the blinding light.
(cont.d) It was everywhere - filling the room, eclipsing everything in sight. She couldn't even see Sonia's body anymore - in fact, she could barely SEE anything. She squinted her eyes, holding tightly onto a pillar as a powerful wind whipped through the space. And then a roar ripped through the air. What have I done?
