(surprise?) Anyway, it turns out that Ai's whole family, the Kimura family, was just superficial. While her father was a "known sailor", he never actually went to sea. However, even though her father had dangerous anger issues.. her mom was worse. Mika Kimura/Mitamoto was an absolute pathological liar, with no regards for consequences. She is so used to having no consequences, she didn't even think that her husband would do what he did.... Or that Ai would run away..
