This is a project for school! Instructions: The Green Buttons: E: Evolution N: Natural Selection F: Fun Facts S: Sources Click a component (egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly, buttons) to learn about it. The buttons explain things on the butterfly. Click the yellow button on the bottom right to go back to the homepage. Full screen recommended!
Credits are mostly in the sources. Other credits: Me for code and research. Google for pictures. And Scratch! About the project: I made a project where you can learn about the process of butterfly evolution and natural selection. In my example, I included a caterpillar that is light green with pink spots, which turns into the Luna Moth. This shows that only specific types of caterpillars turn into a specific type of butterfly. This shows natural selection. We must be careful of every type of butterfly and caterpillar, because if one of them goes extinct, the other version will too. Another example is a tiger striped caterpillar will turn into a Monarch. Some species can survive very easily. For example, the owl butterfly has wings that look like owl eyes, making it seem scary. By giving it these patterned traits, natural selection helps it survive. Evolution helps the caterpillar because by turning it into a butterfly, it can survive more easily. Caterpillars are very small at first and can’t travel very far by crawling. As a butterfly, some species use natural selection, which helps. Sometimes butterflies don’t survive too well, but either way, by giving them wings, they can still hide and travel quicker.
